Ill look into the sennheisers. Any suggestions for an amp and/or dac to use? I know my computers sound card sucks

I would like to get my first pair of open headphones, because I would really like a large soundstage for listening to metal music. I like strong mids, not recessed. Good bass would be nice, but not too strong.

I agree completely. After having both the HD25 and the srh940, I much prefer the hd25's.

They do play metal very well, maybe the best under $100 for metal. They do need some brain burn in though. At first I thought it sounded muddy, with no instrument separation whatsoever, but now I absolutely love them ^.^
