Need new headphones for metal music <$300

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! My last 4 headphone purchases have all included the sennheiser hd598, so needless to say ive been intrigued by them for a while. As for grados, I have tried my friends and for some reason I just dont like the sound.. Also, I currently have the Beyer Dt990's...

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Hi I am looking at new cans for listening to metal music. I like to have the mids louder than everything, and with a very strong treble as well. Bass is also important to me, but not as much as mids. I can go up to about $300... but if theres something thats like waaay better than everything...

    Open headphones <$200 for metal

The grados I have tried were my friends have broken Sr60's... lol not even sr60i's. I guess I probably should give em another try xD. What I hated most about them was the feel, I was using the bowl pads but they just feel so weird. And I felt like the only way I could get a full sound was if I...

    Open headphones <$200 for metal

I would like to get my first pair of open headphones, because I would really like a large soundstage for listening to metal music. I like strong mids, not recessed. Good bass would be nice, but not too strong.

Headphones for Rock/Metal around $200 dollars

Hi I currently own Sennheiser HD 25 1-ii's. I pretty much only listen to stuff like Melodic Death Metal, and Folk Metal, so I need good mids and highs. While I love the Hd 25's for listening to metal music, I would like something with much better soundstage. I have tried Grado's and I honestly...

Portable headphones or IEM under $50

ABout 2 months ago my sister needed new earbuds because her old ones had broke. I told her that if she spent a bit more she could get something that sounds much better, and lasts a lot longer. Well she was very stubborn and got the same earbuds again. Well, a month later they broke. This time...

Shure SRH 940 impression and support thread

I agree completely. After having both the HD25 and the srh940, I much prefer the hd25's.

    The Etymotics HF5 Thread

They do play metal very well, maybe the best under $100 for metal. They do need some brain burn in though. At first I thought it sounded muddy, with no instrument separation whatsoever, but now I absolutely love them ^.^

Maybe wait to get the HF5's before you buy the olives? You can decide whether or not you really need new tips, and if you do, you can say which size tips you use, and we can tell which size we use of the olives.

    Phone Fi

It is coming very close! I love the new look of the android market, with music, books movies and apps. Personally, I only get apps, but it is nice to have :D. And yes, MIUI is amazing

Don't know if I should ditch my HD 25's...

I listened to your suggested track. I also have listened to mastershakes track in the past, it is one of my favorite songs :D. I understand that it is the recording. My question is, are there any headphones that will make WINTERSUN's vocals more up front?

Don't know if I should ditch my HD 25's...

I understand that I can EQ and everything. I understand that putting vocals deeper in the track is common of the metal genre, so that you can more easily hear all instruments. I like that, but I am craving more vocals. My HF5's do that, but for some reason it sounds hollow to me, like the...

Don't know if I should ditch my HD 25's...

Thanks. Lately I have really been getting into Wintersun. Literally that is all I have been listening to for the last 6 weeks haha, their only 8 songs, over and over again. Never getting boring. It is probably the recording but I would like my headphones to make just wintersun sound the best...

Don't know if I should ditch my HD 25's...

SO I got my sennheiser HD25 1-II's, about 3 weeks ago because apparently they were great for metal, which is all I listen to. I really like them, but I almost always prefer my Etymotic HF5. This is because when any sound at all leaks in, it sounds much worse for me. Also, I feel like the vocals...

    The Etymotics HF5 Thread

It is more durable, and is still very durable. But everything is bound to break after a long time. Mine is still in absolute perfect condition after 1 year. I listen for about 1 hour every day, at least.
