++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Quote:   Yeah, from days past, the 600 or 650 were at the top of the list before I made that post last night. If that's still the way to go -- assuming I don't want to spend a heck of a lot more money, which seems to be what people are doing these days -- I'm okay with that.

Back in the day -- 2008! -- I bought a pair of DT880s. They've served me well enough, and I do like them, but for certain genres, they're entirely too fatiguing. I'm sure everyone else who has listened to them has similar opinions. I'll be keeping them around, and when I want to listen to...

    Beyerdynamic DT880 or Grado SR225?

Not quite sure about the SR-225 for folk or electronica, TBH. Great for rock, but I think the DT880 are going to be better for folk. Neither are great for electronica, though. The DT880 have good bass, but not the impact I'm looking for with electronica, at least.

What are the best beyerdyanmics in the mid range?

Portable, compact, cheapish headphone/canalphone which *doesn't* provide good isolation?

My little sister needs a new pair of headphones for her iPod nano. I've got her listening to my old Sennheiser HD280 at home, and she enjoys them (and loves my DT880), so I'm slowly pushing her toward high-end audio. Unfortunately, she's asked for Skullcandy canalphones for Christmas. I'm, uh...

    Cantate or Central Station?

As headphone listening goes, I typically like stronger highs and mids, and am usually okay with recessed bass -- sparkle in the highs is something I'm okay with, and the bass on the DT880 '05 through my 2MOVE is quite adequate for most of the things I listen to on it. (Classical -- with a strong...

Meier Audio Corda 2Move Loose Headphone Jack is By Design?

It's tough to close the back on the 2MOVE, yes. But, I think the improved durability as a result of the PCB not being directly attached to the front of the case is worth it -- it means you can't put undue stress on the jack by pulling or pushing improperly on your headphone connector.

Meier Audio Corda 2Move Loose Headphone Jack is By Design?

I thought it ran off the wallwart if plugged in simultaneously with USB, but ran off USB if the battery was in? (If this is not the case, the battery in mine should be long-dead.)

Huge noise issue with 2MOVE on one computer, not other.

Update: My EVGA 680i SLI motherboard has two different clusters of USB ports, four on bottom, two on top, each cluster seeming to draw power separately. I just connected the 2MOVE to one of the top ports, up from the bottom, where I've got my keyboard (2 ports) and mouse (1 port) connected...

Huge noise issue with 2MOVE on one computer, not other.

I'll get in contact with Jan if I can't figure out what else is wrong. It's just come to mind, however, that it may well be an issue with the Windows USB driver, not a hardware issue. I'll give that a shot tonight, and check out the voltage on the USB ports tomorrow (found out what the pinout...

    Cantate or Central Station?

I'm looking at getting a DAC/amp for home use (computer-as-source), and am having a tough time deciding between these two. For the time being, my choice will be used only on a pair of DT880; it will be used for Sennheisers in the future, though, at the very least (not decided between HD600 and...

Huge noise issue with 2MOVE on one computer, not other.

[Update: I've fixed the issue, I think. See a few posts down for details. Then again, as I was typing this update, I noticed an issue with weird channel-specific volume changes, complete with a little pop. I isolated the issue to XP, so I'm pretty sure it's driver-related more than...
