studio monitor headphones under 200 usd would prefer less
The electronic music artist Stimming uses AKG 702s and Shure SRH 840s (in conjunction with his very high quality studio monitors, but he's a big fan of using both). Personally I think his production is top notch.- leogang

FLAC or any other high res formats
I'd recommend carrying out a double-blind listening test to determine whether or not you can actually determine a difference in quality between formats if you're still concerned about hearing the best audio. I used to think I could differentiate them but after experimenting a bit I found that I...- leogang

New Member Introductions thread
Was a lurker for a while. Decided to join to a few months back but haven't posted too much yet. I intentionally avoid this place when I'm low on $, :) Happened upon a used pair of Denon D2k's (as recommended/raved about in these forums) for $180(!) and am quite content.- leogang

Recommendations for Sub 100 Dollar headphones
Occasionally you may be able to find Audio Technica ATH-M50s for $95. I believe they were in the $90 range around black friday last year on Amazon. Maybe just toss some $100+ phones in your shopping cart and request notifications for when the price changes.- leogang

Nice review. If you have a lot of hair it can get tangled or stuck in the headband too. I had to part with mine away because of this :/- leogang

Denon D2000 pads: Lawton Angle vs Mad Dog Alpha
It does, thank you. These D2k's are basically my only pair of headphones for the time being so I'm somewhat trepidatious about modding them. I'll certainly leave it to pros though. It's almost as if headphone manufacturers are purposefully engineering cons into their headphones to balance... -
Denon D2000 pads: Lawton Angle vs Mad Dog Alpha
Loved the Alpha pads on the MDs, but just decided to replace my MDs with D2000s. I'm interested in these two options as well. On another note, would a pad mod such as either of these decrease the sound leak or is that primarily due to the cups? -

Matt, how would you compare the bass slam on those to the M50? And perhaps the D2k?- leogang

**MrSpeakers Mad Dog: Impressions and Discussion Thread**
Quote: I wouldn't call myself a basshead, but, especially after comparing them with an ATH-M50, there's some bass to be desired. I should have mentioned that I'm most interested in a portable amp/setup. Ideally I'd like to use a portable for home too as my current home amp source (a...- leogang
