is a PA2V2 enough to drive...

... a set of akg k240's (600 ohm)?  I'm thinking no, but thought I would see if anybody has tried.    Reason I ask is a buddy of mine recently picked up a pair in pretty good shape, and they sound fine with his vintage pioneer amp, but I was curious if my little PA2V2 would be able to do...

Why do so many great albums sound so bad?

Yeah, I know it's a loaded question, but I am not looking to debate whether one's ear perceives something to be better than someone else.  Rather, I am just curious as to how an album, particularly by a band with lots of money, can still be poorly recorded in this era of technical miracles. ...

How long does First class mail to Canada take?

Being in Canada myself, I can relate.  I'll never understand the requirements that customs has for holding something up, or just letting it pass through.  I've ordered larger more expensive items (eg. headphones) via companies or ebay which get here lightening fast, and other times some rinky...

What sound quality is best for ipod?

The lossless/FLAC vs. 320Kbps is an ongoing debate, there are a number of threads with many detailed posts on the subject but IMHO it is a very subjective thing.  Personally all the stuff on my ipod classic is 320Kbps and I can't tell the difference.

LOD + AMP for Ipod Classic

I'm using the FiiO L3 and PA2V2 amp with my 120GB classic (ATH-M50 and M30's), nice combo and nice price.

Why do so many great albums sound so bad?

There are quite a few example of badly recorded/engineered albums out there, and I'm curious to know the reason for it.  Perhaps it is a money thing for new bands that can't afford better, and yes there are quite a few early recordings where the equipment was probably not the greatest, but that...

    info in vintage aiwa cans

Anyone have any information on aiwa hp-30's?  Just wondering how hard they are to drive, what the specs are, and what the sound quality is like.  I found an older posting on head-fi for someone selling a pair, but it did not say to much about em'.  (other than they look great)

    Soldering For Dummies

I concur with an earlier posting suggesting a variable wattage iron.  I started messing around with speakers a few years back (crossovers, re-capping, etc...) and started with a cheapie single wattage iron.  I think it was 30W, but depending on what I was doing and type of solder I was using...

Have you considered the RE2 from head direct?  Yeah, older model, but still fantastic for 29 bucks.

    Audio Technica M50s Vs M50?

I say go for the coiled if your main use will be portable.  I've got the straight cable on my m30's, and I found them a pain to keep looped up.  I do still use the m50's while on the couch and connected to my home rig, the cable stretches to a decent length.

Looking for Compact Speakers, please help

I would also consider the paradigm atoms, another fine Canadian speaker that would be similar sounding to the energy series.  My brother has a set and they are fantastic.  I own 3 pair of their big brother, the titans.

    Fiio L1 and L3?

My first LOD was the budget L1, and it was fine, but did not last.  After only a few months one of the connections went flaky.  I've had the L3 for over a year now with no problems.  I'd spend the extra money for the better build quality.
