I think the 600 owners would vote that there is a difference and the 580 folks would say there isn't. If there is a difference I can't hear it. Probably why the 580s have been discontinued.

If you're sure it's the driver and the the cable then yes, I would send the whole unit back to Sennheiser. I had the 595s and loved them. Then I heard the 580s were being discontinued so I bought a pair of those. Within two weeks I had sold the 595s. I agree about personal opinion but to me the 580s were a MUCH better headphone.
