Differences between the HFI-580 and HFI-780?
I think they both have the same extension into lower freq. The 580 has a bit more impact but I think the 780 has cleaner bass. If you want good raw, deep bass go for the 580.- hawker800mech

The Beyerdynamic 250 ear pads fit well on the 580, 680 and 780 cans. They do change the sound a bit, though.- hawker800mech

Beginner Rock Headphones?
I had Grado SR125 and did not like them at all for rock. They didn't have the bass impact nor did they go deep enough. Very detailed and open soundstage, though.- hawker800mech
