Mods for SR-009
Thanks David. Do you have instructions posted somewhere for your custom headband? I have been trying to find a 3d printing business that will manufacture a few replacement pieces--if anyone has leads I would love to hear. It's a very straightforward part. To update, it has been many months and...- BlueDevil

Mods for SR-009
To clarify, I was not requesting warranty service. I was simply looking to buy the 2 cent plastic piece (for $25 markup or whatever) or a ~$150 replacement headpad. On their website, Stax US sells headpads for every model, except of course for the 009s. I have bought A LOT of audio gear...- BlueDevil

Mods for SR-009
Thanks for the responses. I have now emailed and called Stax US/Accutech/Yama's multiple times with no response (other than an initial email back from Tats Yamanashi--he has not responded otherwise). I bought through Price Japan at launch. I guess I will inquire with them. It's crazy to...- BlueDevil

Mods for SR-009
Reviving this thread. Like complin, one of the plastic sliders connecting the headband to the headpad recently broke on my pair of SR-009s as well. I am a bit surprised since I baby my equipment. Has anyone figured out a source for these (or for a replacement headpad with the plastic pieces...- BlueDevil

BHSE or Woo WES?
I own both amps, the BHSE and WES that is. I sincerely doubt this is the answer you are looking for, but at times I prefer the BHSE and at other times I prefer the WES. That is with the SR-009. With the -007 Mk 1, I generally prefer the BHSE. (Note: sources are a Bryston BDP-1, various Macs...- BlueDevil

Upgrade: 2 high end headphone rigs
I own and love the Weiss DAC202. That said, IME, the headphone out is not all that magical. Yes, the output voltage is adjustable, meaning you roughly can optimize it for low or high impedance headphones. However, I don't think it holds a candle to a well-designed headphone amplifier, e.g...- BlueDevil

Eddie Current Balancing Act
I'm curious about everyone's preferred phones with the BA as well -- and if you have favorite headphones by genre all the better. I'm using the LCD-2 rev. 2 and the ATH-W3000ANV -- both are consistently good, occasionally wow, but I find myself listening to my Stax setup more and more (other...- BlueDevil

Balance Control?
Do you exclusively play vinyl? If not, and you are interested in computer audio, the latest music players (e.g., I use PureMusic and Amarra on Macs) have relatively simple balance controls built in. Otherwise I think you may be able to add a couple of in line resistors to create a continuous...- BlueDevil

New Audeze LCD3
Does anyone know if the LCD-3s are on display at any store in the NYC area? I regret "upgrading" from a late model rev. 1 to an early model rev. 2 LCD-2, and now am debating whether to double-down on the LCD-3s (or revert back to the rev. 1s). Once they've fixed the channel imbalance/driver...- BlueDevil

Question about amps for the Stax SR-009
I merely was speaking from "my experience," which as I state does not include the BHSE (at least not for another few weeks -- I'm in the teens on Justin's list). Maybe it was a poor choice of words, but my basic point still stands: the WES/009 is very detailed, more so than any amp/phone combo...- BlueDevil

Question about amps for the Stax SR-009
In my experience the Woo WES is not muddled or rounded with the SR-009. I've been living with this combination for months, and its detail and purity are non pareil. Whether the BHSE's character is a step above I can't say-- I'm looking forward to shipment of the next batch -- but I doubt it...- BlueDevil
