Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread
Can anyone comment on how much of an upgrade the MSR7 is from something like the Ultrasone HFI780? They seem to fill a similar niche as far as functionality and sound. EDIT: I have the HFI780 currently- acegazda

Soundmagic HP150/HP151 Impressions Thread
Anyone upgrade to these from the Ultrasone HFI-780? They seem like similar headphones from the reviews... maybe a bit more neutral? Main reason I'm switching is to get more comfort honestly... my ears press against the insides of the cups of the HFI-780s and I want to avoid that in my next cans...- acegazda

The Basshead Club
I think I'm still a basshead although (embarrassingly) I bought the Ultrasone HFI 780s way back when thinking they were basshead phones. I've come to love them but they're not basshead phones.- acegazda

Any of you guys audiophiles and minimalists? How's your audio setup like?
I would consider myself extremely minimalist with just one pair of Headphones (Ultrasone HFI-780s at the moment) in my possession at a time. I started off, many years ago, with just the Denon d1000s and then sold them to fund my current Ultrasone purchase. I have a Sony mp3 player and a Fiio E5...- acegazda

The Ear Pads Thread (post questions or say what ear pads worked for you)
Wow I'm glad I found this thread. Trolldragon I'm kinda worried about the hm5 pads... do your ears touch the drivers with those on there? Mine almost touch the drivers with stock pads so if the softer ones get you any closer I'm a bit worried about that causing pain. I was thinking about just... -
[REQUEST] Custom Earpad Tutorial for FullSized Cans
Hopefully it's ok that I'm reviving this but I'm wondering if anyone has tried this but with a cushioning material that is a bit more rigid like taking a slab of foam and cutting it out in the shape of headphone pads so you're not stuffing but sort of just folding the leather around the mold? Is...- acegazda

Ultrasone HFI-780 with Denon d600 pads
I know there are several threads on this topic but I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried putting denon d600 pads on the ultrasone hfi-780s? I was able to compare them today and it looked like they might fit. If they definitely don't fit I may just try to make my own. I am curious as to what...- acegazda

SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread
Quote: I guess that would be useful. I've never listened to the 580s but they are just 780s with more bass emphasis and recessed mids right?- acegazda

Looking for full-sized headphones that are particularly good at vocals.
I think the ultrasone hfi780s do a particularly good job with vocals. People talk about them sounding shrill out of the box and being susceptible to sibilance but I don't remember that being the case 2 years ago when I got them and it certainly is not the case now with hundreds of hours of burn in.- acegazda

SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread
Can't find a direct comparison between these and the Ultrasone HFI-780 though they sound like similar headphones. I'm looking to upgrade from the 780s due to comfort issues (pads are pretty bad IMO) and it sounds like these would be a good option to try. If anyone has both of these though a...- acegazda

Audio Technica ATH-M50 vs Ultrasone HFi-780?
Quote: I use mine without a dedicated amplifier out of my sony nwz-a730 and it sounds great. Never listened to the m50s but the ultrasones have good bass impact and GREAT extension and IMHO the treble is a strong point. People will tell you that the highs are painful to listen to and...- acegazda

"Pairing," optical and coaxial inputs and more
So I'm pretty set on getting a D4 mamba for my ultrasone hfi-780s but I had a few questions first: the d12 has coaxial and optical input/output... what are these for? do they offer better sound quality? Another thing I'm wondering about is "amp pairing," specifically with the ultrasones...- acegazda

HELP: Ultrasone HFI-780 or Denon AH-D1100 for portable use
i didn't do any research on the pro series so can't really help you there. I will say that I bet they are more comfortable than the hfi-780s but like you said, less easy to drive.- acegazda
