    PCM2704 USB DAC

Bit off topic, but did you get asked by ti to verify that you are american when you asked about the 290*? I did when I asked about the test circuit they had.

    USB Power Limits??

USB specifications are set in stone. Only difference between the specs and the implementation is that the implementation can improve on the specs at the makers wish, but has a minimum to achieve. Now, most of the following is info I got from one of Maxim's engineer journal things they send...

Radioshack to phase out Parts Drawers by Jan.

Those markups is probably why they lose so much business. The guy who told me about the other electonics store also told me the price for the same size pref board. 1 buck vs rs 4.26. The only reason to go to radioshack now, imho, is the new vex robot kits, for people starting out in robotics...

Radioshack to phase out Parts Drawers by Jan.

I heard this from a sales associate at my old radioshack (where I use to work). The parts/parts drawer will be phased out by January. This is atleast in Union county, NJ. He said they (Corp) might price down the parts for clearance, so stock up. Good thing for me though, is he suggested a good...

right, left, groundon rat shack jacks....

Well, the top of the jacks are see thru, sooo it shouldn't be too hard to see which is which. If anything, just plug a plug into it and use a connectivity tester on your voltage meter to see which is which.

    Good second DIY project?

Non amp? Go build a mini robot, like the line following one they have on the makezine.com/blog list.

    Any DIY Woodies?

You would get in trouble for using a title like that round my parts I seen some cigar box amps, which is the only other thing cigar box's are good for aside from holding stuff and being a paper weight. Personally, I have a nice Monte Cristo Unwrapped wooden box and a nicer Romeo y Juileta...

    Cheap Source for Rechargables

This is just a fyi for those who need new rechargables. You know that digital concepts brand, the one that has stuff from plastic screen guards to camera stands to what not? Well, National Wholesale Liquidators has a combo charger and 4 2000/2200mah AA batteries for 9.99. They also have a combo...

    Ground lifting a USB cable?

IMHO, you can try and be pretty sure you won't break anything besides the cable.

    8.4v rechargables?

Arn't the 9.6v the type used in electronic Paintball guns? Try looking for them at a sports store then.

    Bit off topic, but...

I want to build one of these http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/79be/ since 25 dollars plus shipping seems a bit too much for a simple circuit like this. Does anyone know how to make something like this, or know a site where I can go ask? Thanks.

What a cock up with the glue gun

Well, the best way around the shrinkage would be to use layers. Plus that would allow you to float the item and position it better as well. /theory I really don't know, but I plan on making a cmoy like that. I just need to find a way to make sure the switch and jacks still work afterwards.

Cheap enclosure similar to mint tin for 1/4" jack

Around me they used to sell gum in a metal tin, but it only opened at the top, like the eclipse mint tins. But it should be big enough for an amp and the 1/4 jack. So check out some corner stores and candy shops.

Which battery setup is more fesible

Buy a 17 dollar charger + 4 battery set at Walmart/Target/K-Mart/etc. Then buy another. Cheaper then a 27 dollar charger plus 24 dollars for 8 batteries.

    iTunes Questions and iPod Wonderings

For the tags, I think it might be due to the version of ID3 tags you are using. ID3 v1 has a limited number of fixed genres, ID3v2.x does not have a fixed amount of genres. So depending on the tag, and on where they have been written to, it might change.

I prefer the DIY expoxy + Hinge + rubber fittings + pressure lock. And I really don't think Snowboarders really need a water proof mp3 player/case. Their jackets take care of it.
