i know ive seen this same post somewhere here before (maybe even my own) but i just dont have the time to look for it....

I have 2 radio shack jacks that im going to use on my MINT that im building, but i dont know whic is right channel, left channel, and ground.

any help would be great. heres some photos.

Well, the top of the jacks are see thru, sooo it shouldn't be too hard to see which is which. If anything, just plug a plug into it and use a connectivity tester on your voltage meter to see which is which.

If you have a multimeter, plug in a headphone plug to the jack and then measure resistance from each channel.


In my experience with these style jacks, with the opening pointing DOWN

the bottom pin is ground (nearest the opening)

The pin on the very left is left channel
The pin on the very right is Right Channel

(if this is confusing read on:
From bottom to top:
Bottom = ground,
2nd = L
3rd = support, shorted to right when no jack is in place
4th = R
5th = support, shorted to left when no jack is in place)
