8.4v rechargables?

there are also 9.6v rechargable 9v batteries that you might wanna consider.

8.4v will definitley work, but how long it lasts depends on what amp chip you use

My immediate application was going to be a MINT with an ad8066 opamp, running class-A biassed.

I'm using a Jaycar 8.4v with a PIMETA and i'm only getting 2 hours out of it before it needs recharging.

You'll probably want to go for the 9.6V ones, regardless of what amp you're thinking of putting them in. If you do a search, you can find a ton of info already posted about the 9.6V's and why they are worth getting. I use the 9.6V ones from Maha, and they were a great buy.

Any aussies know where the 9.6V batteries can be purchased either online or at a B&M store?

yep yep. the most popular kind is the Kingman JAVA 170mah 9.6v. i have 2 of these batteries, one to power my paintball gun and the other to power my MINT. they cost around 10 bucks a piece
