    ER4 Custom Ear Mold

Redshifter: The sound-bore is a modification that allows the Ety's, filter intact, to be directly inserted into the molds. Sound is transferred to the eardrum through the "bore" an empty, cone shaper tunnel that leads from the tip of the Ety (top, or point of the cone) to the end of the mold...

    ER4 Custom Ear Mold

The filters don't get gummed up any worse than with flange tips or foam. I should have posted this next bit of info a long time ago since I haven't seen anyone use this method, not even the resident audiologist at UE. It reliably produced better impressions than any of the professionals I...

    ER4 Custom Ear Mold

I shopped around for a long time for custom molds for my Ety's. After untold hours, $$, and several failures, I arrived at the Westone, full-soft #34, non-sound bore which I could not be happier with. I'm convinced that custom molds aren't the norm with Ety's simply because of the time and cost...

    Do you believe in ghosts?

Assuming that you mean “ghosts” to be the traditional, commonly accepted idea of a person who has died and the spirit lives on sort-of-thing, then no. There have been some very interesting theories put forward in the last 100 years or so that attempt some scientific explanations to various...

Have you ever used IEMs while driving?

I regularly drive in commute traffic in the most congested areas of Los Angeles while talking on the phone, smoking a cigarette, eating a McBurger and fries with at least two kinds of dipping sauce (hot mustard and BBQ, generally), and steering with my knees. However, I would never use...

Have you ever used IEMs while driving?

Funny, the only decent headphones I've seen being worn in public in the last year were a pair of KSC-75's worn by the guy driving the van that almost hit me yesterday.

Whom to Believe - Stereophile or HeadRoom - about Grado SR125's?

125's have long been held as one of the best bang-for-the-buck buys in high-end audio, not just in headphones and not just by Stereophile. It's only been in the last few years that headphones rivaling the 125's in terms of cost vs performance have come around, though the 125's are still an...

I'm A HD-280 Pro User, But Want More Isolation. What Are Some Options?

The only way you're going to isolate while playing drums is by using construction grade circumaural's, drummer's cans, shooter's cans, or a similar product. To improve SQ, you can use an IEM and then place the "ear-protection device" headphones over them. Home Depot sells a pair for around...

I'm A HD-280 Pro User, But Want More Isolation. What Are Some Options?

I agree with halcyon's recommendation, and would add that active noise cancellation may also be an option for you. However, for the best performance in both sound quality and isolation, you can’t do better than an IEM.
