rediscover my portable gears after owning (have owned) most flagships.
So, here we go: Source: hm901 with balanced amp card in SE mode except for re600. Findings: 1. 901 is a good dap :) 2. W4 is still my favorite, especially under this set up. Followed by 334 and k3003 then prolly ie800 (universals) 3. W4 is most custom like with enveloping sound stage, others are...- czqdtc

HiFiMan RE-600 Review
I found you have a very distinctive taste in IEM. I remember you described the SE5WAY as dark and heavy in bass. You even describe the relatively bright and light sounding re400 as dark... IDK what is going on in your mind but fore me re400 sounds like a piece of cheap plastic and re600 is...- czqdtc

Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600
Got my RE600 today. Really impressive stuff I have to say. I paired it with the hifiman 901 + balanced amp card as advertised lol Great great vocal, reminds me of HE500 which is one of my favorite big cans. Only complaint is a little bit lack in the bass department. Just personal preference...- czqdtc

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
ED8 is easily one of the worst headphones I've ever had... It is simply unlistenable, I found I would rather listen to beats pro than those... Nonetheless, I had them 3 times... tried so hard to love them because they look really gorgeous, but failed... miserably.- czqdtc

my only complaint about the T1 is that they are overly bright sometimes, especially paired with some neutral sources.- czqdtc

Quote: same here. Though I really miss the lookings of W3000ANV as well as its mids. Aside from that, TH900 simply trumps the W3000 especially in terms of sound stage, imaging, airiness etc. Oh and of course much stronger bass...- czqdtc

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
Quote: I have both of the headphones and I used to have DX100 dap too. HD700 drive out of DX100 is actually quite enjoyble to my ears. DX100 has the best extension and smoothness up-top, even more so than the 901, which should pair well with TH900's incredible highs (unfortunately I sold...- czqdtc

HM-901
I prefer my 901 LO as a dac and using the amp section on Anedio D2 than using the D2 as a dac when driving HD800. Guess that tells u sth. Yes it is not as detailed as D2 dac, but it just sounds better in terms of overall signature and does not fall short in technical ability as well.- czqdtc

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
strangely, with my setup, the th900 has super non-offensive treble... Cable may play a role here but again, u can always set 'vintage' mode on 901 to make the treble much darker and the vocal pops up quite a bit. I'm actually really enjoy the th900 in "vintage mode"- czqdtc

Here are some pics: BTW, I found the vocals on TH900 sounds masked, not as clear as on the HE-500... However, the highs on the TH900 is really enjoyable, silky smooth yet extends endlessly.- czqdtc

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
So my initial impression of TH900 with silver dragon V3 out of HM901 with balanced amp module: 1. Highly detailed 2. very crisp highs 3. a bit offensive 4. big bass (a bit too much for my taste), very very strong attack 5. a sense of openness we rarely find on closed headphones ...- czqdtc

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

The JH16 Pro Impressions Thread
Get a toxic silver cable or some other custom cables. The imaging/resolution of the stock cable is very bad. I asked my friend to make me a 500 dollars silver cable and it made my jh16 sounding beautiful (much better than twag, Stefan art E and stock). The jh house sounding is not musical at all...- czqdtc

Shure se846 vs. JH16/13
Quote: too much mid-bass, even sub bass. Around 6-8k region need to be adjusted too, a bit too much, treble extension is inferior to big cans, lacking air up-top; low-mids for vocal is recessed, resulting in relatively weak imaging. All these can be fixed by high-end custom cables (not...- czqdtc
