This really makes me want to have a ZMF table top! Would be pretty sick.
We're gonna start going bankrupt if ZMF started selling resin / stabilized tables

@zach915m i have a question, maybe a idea to get more clients, who knows :relieved:
Will You ever be making headphones in the lighter category?
I really like the way they sound ( Auteur Classic), how they look, just sweet and colorful, but for me to heavy.
I think You would be able to get some more happy clients, if they would be like around 400 and 450 grams.

As long as the box can double as my family's table top and the Salire can hang my wife's jewerly, I think I will get permission to purchase this!

Totally get the weight concern. With the right mix of parts, a lot of our builds already land right where you’re hoping (via the weight project):
  • Vérité Open in Silkwood, full magnesium hardware: about 425 g
  • Atrium in aged cherry, aluminum hardware: around 465 g - could be even lighter with Magnesium
Swap in lighter woods (Ambrosia maple, monkey-pod, etc.), stick with the magnesium chassis and aluminum rods/grilles, and you’ll see numbers in the low- to mid-400s pretty consistently. Redwood Burl is a fan favorite and super light.

On top of that, the suspension headband, plush pads, and optional crescent strap spread the load so most folks tell me the headphones feel lighter than the scale says. I think it's tough though - with all our pretty options and metals that weight more it can tempting to bypass the lighter stock woods. Most of our owners don't have any issue with the weight, but I get the concern - If you want to hit a specific weight, just shoot me a PM and we’ll spec the build together.

Exactly, weight is not everything. Weight distribution is equally if not more important when it comes to comfort. The size, thickness, depth and filling of the earpads, appropriate clamping force, decent headband width and padding all play a role. ZMF BBB strap for example helps a lot with weight distribution and level of comfort.
My 560g Caldera open feels significantly more comfortable to me than the 523g Final D8000 or 490g Utopia. Similarly, I never had issues with the 550g Audeze LCD2C, mostly due to the huge and super comfy earpads. I would say the LCD2C is more comfortable than the 375g Denon D9200 (which is not bad, just not great either).
My point is that you cannot judge comfort by weight only. ZMF headphones are comfortable. Perhaps not as much as the 430g Meze Elite or 415g DCA Stealth, but certainly in the upper third or even upper fifth of headphone brands. And that uniquely organic and engaging sound will make you forget every weight concern you previously had anyway. ;)

Agree 100% with this, and I'll add clamp force as well.

I have a Verite Open in African Blackwood, aluminum chassis, and copper rods and grills. It looks (and sounds) fantastic, but is a heavy beast! But on my head it's no problem between the comfortable suspension strap, minimal clamp, and comfy pads.

TLDR unless you have neck issues weight isn't as much of a concern as you might imagine...

I did not say anything about comfort.
LCD2 has great comfort, but the weight is just too much.
From memory, i would not say that the Denon AHD9200 was less comfortable than the LCD2, did not have the LCD2C.
Hm, i did hope , that the engaging sound and looks will make up for the weight ( in case of LCD2Padauk) but it did not. So I now wait, for someone to take the LCD from me.
I felt like if someone would push My head from one side i would not be able to stop my head anymore.
