Is there going to be a summer drop of stabilized Caldera's? I want a pair but I don't know if I'm in love with any of the current offerings (maybe the Annua but idk if I want to spend an extra 1000 over a regular Caldera)

For my fellow wood dorks, any thoughts or information on the hardness of the black persimmon? The pink ivory, katalox, and macassar ebony are very hard woods, over 3k janka, which is good for not only my sonic preferences but also piece of mind when i'm clumsy :).
FELLOW WOOD DORK REPORTING FOR DUTY! (thankfully Zach beat me to it though)

would be nice to know if the chassis was Al or Mg though.....unless I am blind
It usually specifies in the dropdown menu when you order, I agree that it would be a nice inclusion to the product photos so one can plan ahead.

Coincidentally, I archived the pages yesterday and found out something. If you take the link for the 5/2 drop pages and put it into archive.org, you actually get to see the drop-down list where each pair has the chassis type included. Starting prices still aren't there, but I imagine Zach and the team will get that fixed before the release happens.

Hey everyone, Katharine here! :)

Just popping in with a few quick updates after catching up on your latest questions.

• Typo fix: A few people noticed Macassar listed on the Caldera Closed page—that wood isn’t part of this run, and the page is updated. Thank you!
• Drop time: We go live tomorrow at 8:30 AM CST / 13:30 UTC.
• Community shout-out: If you haven’t wandered over to the ZMF Weight Project thread yet, give it a look. It’s a fantastic, community-sourced log of real-world weights by wood, chassis, rod, and grille. Your posts help fellow Head-Fiers (and our team!) nail down what to expect—Jump in and share yours!

Headphone Weight at a Glance
ModelLighter Builds+Heavier Builds*
Caldera Open≈ 515 – 560 g≈ 560 – 630 g
Caldera Closed≈ 515 – 560 g≈ 560 – 630 g
Atrium Open≈ 495 – 570 g≈ 570 – 670 g
Atrium Closed≈ 485 – 560 g≈ 560 – 680 g

+ Magnesium Chassis w/ Black or Coffee Gold rods with the standard grille.
* Aluminum Chassis or heavier rod/grille metals (Copper, Brass, 14 K/White Gold, Stainless), plus dense/exotic woods.

Factors used to calculate weight
• Chassis swap: Magnesium drops roughly 30–35 g compared with aluminum.
• Rod / grille metals: Black & Coffee Gold are the lightest; Copper, Brass, White/14 K Gold, or ornate stainless bring an extra 10–40 g.
• Wood variance: Dense burls like Amboyna or Blackwood can nudge a build to the very top of each weight category, while lighter woods such as Koa sit at the lower end—even with identical hardware.

Hope this info helps as you fine-tune your choice before launch! Thanks so much for being part of the community — see you in the thread!
