The DHL website said it would be delivered by Friday 26th Feb. I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up today!

It really isn't as heavy as I imagined. The clamp seems just about right. And I'm really glad I went with the suede strap this time round!

I have not yet given it a listen.. Probably after putting the kids to zzz. Will be using it with the stock cable first, and then will eventually pair it with a Danacable Lazuli Reference.

Thanks, @zach915m and the ZMF team!

I think I'm getting restless and itching to order my vo desert ironwood. My only concern is the weight, as my lcd-x causes neck pain after using it for an hour. Can anyone plz elaborate on the ironwood vo weight and comfort level?

My VO is silkwood, so it's a lighter headphone than yours. My Aeolus is blackwood, so it's likely even heavier than your VO will be. I honestly am not aware of any comfort differences between these headphones. Sonic differences? Absolutely. But no real perception of the added weight in the blackwood Aeolus.

I think most of that is due to the excellence of ZMF's stock headband system. It just flat-out works. You tend to forget a big beautiful wooden earcups headphone is on your skull.

And to echo @ProfFalkin's comment about Audeze: I've owned a couple LCDs and they were simply awful in comfort. I upgraded to one of Audeze's modern aftermarket headbands, which helped greatly. But even w/a better headband, those things never disappeared on your head like more comfortable headphones do...

Thanks pharma. That makes me feel confident about putting an order in for a desert wood vo. I also have a pilot and copilot pad that I can also use to mitigate any weight issues. I m gonna put an order in the coming weeks. Then the wait game......

They are gorgeous, no doubt!!! - Congratulations. What Amp/Dac will you use to drive them?
Mine should be coming sooooon..., I am so bad at waiting! I love the silver grilles as well, the contrast with the Desert Ironwood is very beautiful.

wow, that is a very high end/expensive amp. I have only gone up to 1/2 the cost of the WA33 and I was very disappointed so I am back to SS, and very happy.

Having another enjoyable listening session w/the silkwood VO. After using the Woo WA3 OTL the last couple times, I switched over to the Liquid Carbon v2, which is sounding very good, indeed. This is giving me a subtle but very clear demonstration of the differences between "tube" and "tube-like" sound. In a little while I'll switch over the V281.

One of the really nice things about the VO (there are many nice things) is how clearly it resolves the differences between various amps. The sound is always crystal clear, leaving no doubt what each amp sounds like compared to the others. Given how much resolution the VO has, its relaxed musicality seems even more impressive to me.

With many headphones, I can have lots of detail & speed, but at the cost of a somewhat less relaxed/musical sound (or the reverse). The VO lets me have it all.

PS--the new stock cable is excellent IMO. I haven't switched to either of my aftermarket cables...no hurry, considering how good the sound is (I'll get around to that sooner or later). Kudos to ZMF for improving the stock cable.
