I've heard the Verite out of several amps, and the one I liked the most surprised me.

Glenn OTL, Gilmore lite mk2, EC Black Widow 2, Lyr 3, stock Bottlehead Crack, A&S Mogwai, Ragnarok.

Best to my ears was the GLMK2 (w/ universe pads), followed by the BW2, Rag, Lyr 3, and the GOTL.

For me, the really tubey sounding amps gave it way too much tubeness. The really clean sounding tube amps faired better (GOTL), and hybrid tube amps better yet. This might be Zach's first headphone where I prefer SS over tube amps.

I think Verite is really going to be very amp dependant for most people.

I wonder if the gs-x mini>yggy a2 would sound good with it

I love the Gilmore! I've been using the Glenn and GSX Mk II pretty exclusively lately with Verite with the Gilmore Lite and Schiit LYR 3 at the ready as well. All different amps by quite a bit but that's been my rotation lately with it.

What pads do you prefer so far?

I've been using Yggy A2 with GSX MK II and G-lite - so - I'd imagine yes!

I have only listened to it with the universe pads. It was my intention to keep mental burn in and the number of variables as simple and consistent as possible for my review, which I still haven't written yet. Once I had a solid baseline, then I was going to pad swap.

Oh, I have a Jotunheim I can test with too, as I don't personally own a GLMK2. I'll have to add that to the list.

(Source is Gumby A2, but in one case it was the Yggy A2. Edit: GLMK2 was with Metrum Onyx I believe.)

That little GLMK2 has really piqued my interest for HeadAmp products. Such a clean little amp.

Gilmore Lite, JDS Element, and Beyerdynamic A20 are the three affordable solid states (that I've tried) I like most with our headphones. All with slightly different flavors but all great in their own ways.

PS - Should be able to add the JDS Atom to the super affordable list there soon too!

Big sound changes between GLMK2 and GSX Mk2, or just incremental betterment of things?

In other words, are they similar or do they have different sound signatures?

I hate to put you on the spot for an impromptu review, but I'm curious. Sorry.

The Gilmore lite I know a couple people who actually like the tonality more because the transients are less aggressive, and it's sounds a little warmer than the GSX because of this. But the GSX has more weight, faster transient edges, and a little truer timbre (as well as being more 3d). For all intensive purposes the Gilmore punches well above it's weight though and gets you in the ballpark of that sound for a fraction of the price. It's just a nice unit.

Hiya! I am a some what newbie on here, getting more into the higher end cans space. I currently have a IFI dsdpro with ICAN+ amp (hybrid tube or solid state), driving a ZMF Autuer. I absolutely love it, placed an order for the Verite immediately given my experience with the wonderful Autuer - how would one compare the two. I know they are not really supposed to be compared but complimentary. I love the tuning of the Autuer, how was the Verite tuned in comparison. I saw a comment from Inner Fidelity that it was the 'most linear' of the ZMF headphones, yet another comment that they shine for EDM, which seems contradictory to me because when I think EDM I think a darker/bassier type of can, or would one say that they are very forgiving in EQ and one could boost the bottom end 5+ without any issues? I also read a comment about a W type of tuning, but whouldn't a W type of tune basically be linear, or would one say particular frequencies are not as present as others?

Lastly, while I do enjoy the warmth of the tube for certain music, I enjoy the discrete for the quickness it provides. If I would to consider one amp, be it a tube or discrete, what would be a good compromise between the two to drive the Autuer and Verite?

Sorry if the above is elementary or redundant, just trying to get a better understanding of the differences between the Autuer and the Verite.

Don't confuse linear for flat. The Auteur would be the most flat and linear headphone in the ZMF line up. The term flat has a negative connotation to it, so I think most people would prefer to call it "neutral". Verite is more colored than the Auteur.

I digress... Verite is a very fast sounding headphone, with great bass and what I perceive to be a downward sloping FR. It does amazing on EDM.
