I am strongly thinking about two options to go to max out the abilities of my Verites - can you give me some insight, if you already went that route:

- DAC + an OTL amp (Chord Qutest with a Feliks Euforia f.e.)
- Chord Hugo TT2 (and adding later an M-Scaler) - I did not find much about that combo

As good as the Chord TT2/M-Scaler combo would be, I think most people here will agree that Verite really comes alive with good OTL and DAC.

I've always been a big R2R/Multibit fan, but I also like Chord's offerings. A Hugo 2 level DAC or better with a lush OTL would be a great combo.

I would suggest to try a Schiit Bifrost 2, it is in my opinion the best dac you can get up to 2000€.
It is almost on par with my Gungnir Multibit A 2, but has a smaller and fully upgradeable, modular formfactor plus a remote.
People even compare it favorable with the Yggdrasil A1.

IMO tube amps are best balanced out or paired w/ a transparent (well-measuring) DAC. For +/- $1K this would be the RME or Chord Qutest. Benchmark DAC3 is good too.

Were I trying to pair an OTL with one of my DACs I would never expect my (R-to-R) Denafrips Pontus to synergize as well as either of my Schiit DACs (A2 Yggy, A2 Gumby) or my Oppo Sonica. Thick-on-thick can be too much. Same reason I don't use my Laz Ref cable w/ Utopia when listening through the Pontus.

Sorry if this is the wrong spot for this particular question but ZMF doesn't seem to have an official dealer in Canada and I'm still really keen on ordering a Verite. I typically try to avoid FedEx and DHL like the plague when shipping from USA to Canada. They can sometimes charge up to 50% of the items cost plus the tax as a brokerage fee. Complete robbery. Have any of you had experience shipping with ZMF into Canada and what was your final cost?
