It is smart for Zach to branch away from the T50rp model.  Fostex has/had 100% control of his headphone business...

Sorry guys I can't say too much. I'm going to let the RMAF impressions role in. I'm putting together a thread so the focus isn't taken off of the Omni, as it is still very relevant and popular. Once the starter thread is made I'll post a link on this thread.

Cheers guys

ARgh,

Trying to decide between:

Omni, Alpha Prime, Ether C or Fostex TH610 for work.

TH610 easy to drive and I like the tonality, but I just love planars.

I find the Ether C a bit bright, but with the right amp/dac could work nicely.

Really the 2 at the top of the list though are the Alpha Prime and Omni.

I have heard and liked the alpha prime, but never heard the Omni, they just arent common around these parts.

I presume the Omni would be much warmer, thick and juicy haha.

More reading to do I think.

The only real solution is to try for yourself and decide based on YOUR preferences. I've heard all of these, and could easily tell you what I'd pick, but that wouldn't really have a lot of meaning, unless we both had exactly the same preferences and hearing (unlikely if not impossible).

While I do agree there may be other like headphones we have heard and like that could lead to a somewhat logical result.

My favourite headphone to date for example is the lcd3. Pre fazor.

I also like the hd650 if amped well.

I prefer a darker signature. Still detailed but smooth and easy up top. With a good amount of body to the sound.

Kind of how I like my bourbon but opposite to how I like my Scotch :p
