ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

I like most genres with the Caldera, but certain genres can really show off what the Caldera can do, like faster metal. One track( not metal) I was listening to the other night really made me pay attention...oldie, moldy and fantastic.

Fantastic cut. When it came out in '70 a lot of people I knew were stunned. "That's the Temptations?" (oh, yeah)

Here are a couple other roughly contemporary tunes with great production values and complicated mixes:

(1972) Curtis Mayfield, "Pusher Man" (from the SUPERFLY soundtrack)

(1971) Temptations, "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)"

Excellent recommendations

Quite a few Motown artists jumped on the psychedelic bandwagon, including The Supremes, to varying degrees of success and credibility.

A few others that sound great on the Caldera (and Atrium & Auteur Classic) from roughly the same era and genres

Great tunes. I worked at an office some years ago and instead of casual Fridays we had Funky Fridays. Playing good 'ol Funk and Soul tracks through the day put us all in a good mood.

Speaking of varying degrees of success and credibility, Sammy Davis Jr., for whom I have a great deal of respect and admiration, tried( and failed miserably) to get in on the Mod Squad era with this utterly cringeworthy effort. It's so bad, it's actually schlocky great. You've been warned! I doubt Issac Hayes lost any sleep.

Totally random,

Pusherman was somehow part of the "instore background music" at my work at a retail store in the Bay Area, it played like twice a day and the occasional customer would chuckle

This is all pre yelp days

Either way, Caldera will be my 5th ZMF headphone and this maybe my end game

Do you know if there’s date for stabilized Calderas to be released? I mean after red heart

I've been burning in the Caldera (at about 150 hours now) and spent my first dedicated time listing to them last night. I love most things about the sound and particularly the base and separation. One issue I'm having is on some songs the vocals seem reassessed and are a bit overpowered by the instruments. I experienced this on about half of the songs I listened to that had vocals. I found my self riding the volume to increase during certain vocal segments of a song but then needed to lower it at other points. I did some quick A/B comparisons with the Susvara and Utopia 2022, in all cases the vocals were more pronounced on those two.

Is this a characteristic of the Caldera that others are experiencing?

Thanks,
Ken
