ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

For those getting suede will there be 2 types of suede pads?

There is a tall and short pad, where the taller pad is warmer and the shorter one is more linear. But I didn't like the way suede sounded on the short one, and I still need to experiment with the taller one. So all suede for now will be limited to the stock version/ That being said, the all suede stock pad might be the best one of them all!

How does the Caldera Cowhide (slim) compare to Caldera Slim and Caldera Thick?

I still don't have a finite grasp on the exact words to use to describe the cowhide. I'm going to try to wrap my brain around why I like it so much and maybe throw it in a video or something. I'll let those who have the cowhide on hand speak for now!

Wow. I've watched both Hot Cup Summer runs and they've been incredible, but some of the stabilized/resin sets that you're displaying here are on another level entirely. Particularly these two just made my jaw drop:

The first run of Caldera Stabilized's are gonna be nuts

Cowhide does something quite distinct with the presentation of the sonic images that I also struggle to articulate. The images are more defined and nuanced. The harmonic descriptor used above is on point, but not in the way of a single ended tube amp's even order harmonics. Quite compelling of a listen!

How does the Caldera Cowhide (slim) compare to Caldera Slim and Caldera Thick?

I'm having (1) stock Caldera pads (thick?), (2) Caldera suede pads (as thick as #1), and (3) Caldera cowhide pads (thinner).

To my ears cowhide pads is associated with more masculine and bolder expressions as I posted in my music rambling a few posts back. To be specific they differ from the stock pads in the following ways.
  • A hint of mid-bass hump
  • A bit more V-shaped tonality by comparison
  • Harder hitting drums
  • Meaty and fuller-bodied cymbals/hi-hats/guitars
  • Snappier and crispier in highs

Ahha no everyone hasn't! My bad!

There's a few more things I wbated to get finalized before sending, it wi however go today at some point. Rest assured though the Caldera release is set in stone for the 22nd at 9:30 AM est.

The website currently says 10:30 AM EST rather than 9:30. Perhaps 9:30 CST?

The product page lists the Caldera Hybrid pads as stock. Are those lambskin/suede or cowhide/suede ? I'm really curious for a table/graph and measurements for all the different options available ahead of purchase

They're not hybrid's in terms of previous ZMF pads where they are suede/lambskin. They're all lambskin, but the inside of the ear cavity is solid, not perforated.
