Was able to pick up my Calderas from FedEx today! Props to ZMF for super fast shipping, these arrived earlier in the week but I had to wait to pick them up due to travel.
The finish on these is insane, and first impressions of the sound are very good

Dude. Both of the ZMF’s I ordered specifically had signature required and both times FedEx signed “on my behalf” and just left it at my front door. Fortunately I was home or that woulda been a porch thief’s lucky day…twice.
At least where I live, they started doing that for everything during COVID. Saves me a 2 hour trip to go pick it up since I’m never home. But would definitely be a problem, especially in more developed areas with foot traffic!

I can’t get over how good this wood looks

I tried them briefly but I think I prefer the stock lambskin pads actually! Still need to try cowhide.
Stunners. The cable connectors also really help them pop!

First Impressions: Holy crap! These are the most natural sounding planars I've ever heard (previously owned the Susvara and LCD-5). All the detail is there without the over-emphasized treble or wonky midrange. Soundstage is comparable to Atrium and the treble is much more defined without any zing or glare. Can't wait to try the suede pads.

Huge +1. I’ve tried a few Hifimans with the highest end being the HE1000v2, and a few Audezes. The Hifimans all have some weird ringing in the treble, and the old school Audeze tuning has no upper mids. I enjoyed listening to each of those brands’ headphones but always came back to my DD ZMFs for the naturalness. These have 95% of that naturalness if not more, with an insane amount of resolution

The Atriums are great too, these just have a bit more speed for the fast stuff
This is exactly how I hear it as well. You start pumping some thrash, speed or melodeath through the Caldera and its a near religious experience.
That in no way detracts from the Atrium in any way, as I like fast metal through the Atrium as well, it's just that the Caldera is faster.

When I did that doom metal test for @YtseJamer awhile ago I saved the fast stuff for last and I literally dropped an F Bomb to nobody in particular after hearing how the Caldera just slices its way through busy passages like a hot knife thru butter.
