I have tried the black and red- and I like the Red's darker resentation- but do not like the softer, more decay like result. I like "dark". Im almost certain I would like the greens even darker presentation- but I assume- it is even softer as well,- and this part I dont want. In other words - I like the harder, faster, less dacay result of black with the darker tuning of red and I would assume green. So I'm kind of stuck...

Did you get the pad kit when you ordered it, and try different combos of black, red, green as well as different pads?

Did not. But I have hybrid, thick, thin, and even caldera open lambskin- which are a nice match along with red and black mesh. So I have alot.... I would not say I have not found a tuning I like- as I have- I just want to improve on it. I think the logical thing to do is use the black mesh and keep the speed and detail, and minimize decay and do a bit of EQ to darken. Problem is I do not have any idea where to start on EQ. Im very non technical.

It also sounds like Parametric EQ will be a better fit for what you're trying to accomplish.

Try https://soundation.com

Nice site to learn about Parametric EQ.

Two questions. First- I have heard little about the green mesh. Has anyone ever tried it?

Second- has anyone tried any EQ and if so- what have they tried? How would I get the CC to be closer to Harmon Target without going EQ crazy? Less is usually more.
I second Eric75 … I like caldera thick top perf pads with red mesh… I found that to be the best for me… and I usually like darker warmer stuff but don’t like to lose my treble and air

Get a more dynamic amp :) Ray Samuel B21 Raider is the perfect one for your needs :)

The sides of the pads on the Caldera Open are perforated as compared to the Caldera Closed pads, so you'll notice some loss of low end with those.

I’m five days and roughly 45h of burn in (ca. 15h of active listening) into the CC experience. Started out with the Suede pads and just now switched to the Hybrid (stock) pads. Didn’t like the latter at all on first listen (even though I “knew” them from my demo time back in June), but realize now how much of an impact the burn in has. Too early to say what I like better, and I will also keep rolling pads, then add the meshes to the mix, probably on a weekly basis, to hone in with on my preferred sound. Definitely enjoyed the new Karate record on the Hybrid pads. So looking forward to this ride!

I did that too during break in. I kept swapping pads and meshes as they burned in, randomly not liking this and that as the hours accumulated. But once the set settled in and stopped changing I quickly settled on a setup that I've more or less stuck with since. Burn in is crazy, isn't it? The first hundred hours with the CC can be a confusing and frustrating experience as you try to learn them and dial them in. Seems like when you start to like something it changes, and the process starts anew haha.
