I definitely like Cayin HA-2A more than IHA-8 for any type of Caldera (and Bokeh Open)

What is the wood on the left one? It is quite pretty

If the launch Caldera Closed Ash allows the Purple Ash from the recent Ash release I will be very tempted to grab one right away instead of waiting for Resin one.

The Ovangkol limited in the Spring announcement video is really speaking to me.

The grain really seems to flow well with the shapes of the cups, or at least the one in the video does.

Interesting. I read the lukewarm impressions (from quite a few, not just one or two) about the Caldera Closed after the CanJam and I told myself, just wait, those who have been handpicked to receive units and post impressions will have a say . And sure enough...

I have the same headphone in-house, too. Set it up for burn-in yesterday.

Interesting how novel & different these earcups look. Between the graphic grain pattern, the strong contrast between light & dark colors, and the raised "triangle" emerging from the circular earcups, the CC looks nothing liike any other headphone.

Then I put them on (w/stock pads) to check that I have sound coming through the amp I'm using for burn-in. Even straight out of the box, the sound is so familiar--it's pure Caldera. So this is a headphone that looks very different, but sounds very familiar.

A harbinger of good things to come: that familiar Caldera sound is just about the best planar sound I've heard in all my time in this hobby.
