Best lubricant I've ever used....they say it works on anything?

I wasn't able to get this stuff in Canada but ended up trying Ballistol ( https://www.amazon.ca/Ballistol-Mul...id=1707819615&sprefix=ballistol,aps,82&sr=8-1 ) and from all appearances it's done the job nicely. I was still super careful not to get it on the wood just in case.

I've tested it on my personal units with different finishes so it's definitely safe there - it's the only thing I've found that hold the squeak away in dry conditions for long periods of time, penthouse and silicone both dry out.

Hopefully it doesn't contain any dark sorcery magic, but I'm afraid it might.

For headphones, yeah. But it says the lubricant can be "used on anything." For some applications, you'd really want to know the ingredients.

Sound great on the Bliss, but like any ZMF dynamic on tubes these really shine. Really like it on low impedance on the 300 MKII. Adds a little warmth that is really nice.

I know Zach changed the marketing to say semi-portable, but man these are so easy to drive.

Hiby RS6 not lacking anything on low gain and hitting 80 out of 100 on the volume dial on DSD files.

Zach, watching BeelzAlBob's video gave me an idea for making the pads easier to put on. A notch on the outer edge of the groove. You then slide the lip of the pad through the notch and as you turn the pad the notch helps guide the lip of the pad into the grove. Once you finish the turn it should be done.

Maybe someone else has pointed this out already, but from memory I think this same technique is used by Beyer and / or DCA. It helps a lot!

Yeah, I am never switching pads or changing mesh on the Bokeh.

The pads are just too difficult to put on. I have never had an issue like this with a ZMF. With the Caldera and Atrium I can get a pad on in 30sec. After 30min I tore one of the suede pads at the seam trying to get those on the Bokeh.

It took me another 15 minutes to get the standard pad back on.

BeelzAlBob's method did not work because the pad is 1/8th inch smaller than the cup of the headphone. Along with the shape and the lip of the pad itself makes it so there is just not enough give or stretch for his method to work.

The moment you got one side into the groove the lip at the other end would pop out as I tried to stretch the pad to compensate for the 1/8th inch size difference between the pad and the cup.

My hands were cramped after all that.

Up until the point I tried to change to the suede pad I rate the first day experience 10/10. After the pad swap attempt, I have to deduct 2 1/2 points. The frustration of trying to pad swap was not a good feeling.

That is why, I almost always leave everything as default settings first. That way, you can understand and appreciate the work of art the engineer/artist has put into making the product. Instead of bending it to your will just appreciate it for what it is first.

Nice! I prefer them on the low impedance setting with my HA300mk2 as well, and that pairing truly is incredible.

Also added a new cable this week. Arctic Cables - Define. Not as nice as the Norne but an esthetic and pliability improvement over the stock cable.

I'm also really starting to enjoy the Bokeh on the high impedance out of my Tuba (35ohm OI). I think my initial misgivings of this combo was more due to the Bokeh not being broken in fully. I found it a bit boomy and resonant. But now I don't hear it at all. The bass is tighter on the low OI output, but high OI is still tight enough, and the added sparkle and color up top really add to the Bokeh's engagement factor for me.

I haven't heard the Fostex but I'm guessing it has greater sub-bass and less warmth. That's what I'm guessing. Maybe less mid presence and a harsher treble.
