Well I recently got a new/old Wenge Auteur off the classifieds. Should be arriving here in a day or 2. I can't wait!

I have a few amps/dacs to power them with. Bifrost2/Mjolnir1 + Asgard3, Burson Composer 3 + Soloist 3xp and a decware Csp3. I wonder which will sound the best? I need to sell one or 2 of these eventually. I have quite a pile already!
Awesome! My money is on the Decware, but you'll have to let us know!

To each their own and I haven't heard any of those DACs/Amps, but I'd also wager the best combo could be Bifrost + Decware :)

Loser(s) has/have to listen to nothing but Daddy Shark and variations of it for a month. 😜
Haha ok ok, that's a pretty serious losing condition. And what about the winners??

i have a Auteur in maple right now ( not ambrosia ). Since i got it, ive been wondering if its a soft wood or hard wood , where it is on the scale .
White maple, the most common kind found in woodworking, is considered a hardwood--it's @1450 on the janka hardness scale. That's a bit harder than another common hardwood, white oak @1335. Both are considerably harder and denser than softwoods like pine.

Cherry wood, often used in ZMF headphones, is 950 on the scale. Some of the exotic tonewoods are harder than any of these: ziricote is @1970; bubinga is @1410; purpleheart is @2520. African blackwood (the wood used in my Aeolus) is @3670, one of the heaviest/densest woods.

I've been listening to my Verite Open for several months now and decided to do a fresh A/B vs. my Auteur. Oh man, the Auteur's just sound more lively and present. Maybe I'm still burning-in the VO, but these Auteur just sound incredible. Hard to choose between them. Then again, I really don't have to choose between them! I suppose I can just enjoy owning both.

As a side note in case anyone is wondering, wenge is 1930 on the hardness scale- so between white maple and ziricote.

I wonder if there are any bamboo ZMF's. It's supposedly 4000 on the scale and is super light. My bookshelf speakers (Ascend Sierra 1) are made of bamboo and I haven't felt the need to replace them for over 10 years.

I’d love to see that happen! Not sure how the wood needs to be cut to make the headphones though, and if it’s 4000 it might tear through their CNC machine 😂

Actually now that I think of it they probably wouldn't be able to use actual bamboo wood pieces because bamboo is so thin so they would probably have to remanufacture it somehow but I'm sure it would sound really cool. Probably wouldn't look that nice though haha.
