Gooey to me generally means an overly thick sound, possibly in the mids, sometimes accompanied by slow or overly bloomy bass. Small nuances in the music are glossed over.
The WA6SE is a good amp. I'd take it over much of their higher priced amps. Still a little over-priced new, but good sounding.
That makes sense, I guess I generally think of "gooey" as warm and thick - but consider it more of a neutral characteristic (as in not necessarily positive or negative... not "neutral" the sound signature). Slow, bloomy and lacking in nuance are certainly the first problems out the gate if a warm/gooey amp isn't done right.
I'm not sure either one of us is right or wrong. I blame the english language for giving us the same adjective to describe both caramel and snot.
