Eagerly awaiting canjam and more impressions

The Auteur has gone straight to the top of my wishlist. I think partnering it with my Atticus will be the ultimate end-game. Currently my 2016 LCD-2F plays that role (open airy complement to closed and punchy Atticus), so if anyone has both Auteur and the latest LCD-2F, a comparison would be most welcome.

It might be down to the quite exotic amps/dacs he's using, proper high-end tube amps can deliver a lot of power and authority while remaining very clear.

I would trust his review. @grizzlybeast knows what he's talking about when it comes to bass (both texture and impact).

Agree with this sentiment, I was hoping my itch would be cured via the Auteur, but I am already looking at Atticus as a compliment (even before I have received/heard the Auteur!!). The Auteur by all accounts is my preferred sound signature, but once in a while its nice to have that punch and slam that Atticus offers.

I don't own the 2016 LCD -2F but I do own the LCD 2 rev.1's (from ~ 2011-2012), will post thoughts once I have the Auteurs in hand.

as i used both afo and clear, I would say clear has more than adequate bass. it's slamming pretty strong. literally, the clearest sound i've ever heard.

It’s not a bass lite headphone, it’s so accurate that bassheads may prefer the thump of an LCD (I have the 3f and the Ether Flow), but it reaches well into the sub bass. I haven’t heard the Autuer yet, since I’m taking a health care break from reviewing, so I didn’t want to bother Zach until he got all of his initial orders out. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do head to head in my System.

I can’t believe I was the first person to post a picture of the limited Auteur box. The Auteur sounds very good in the mids as voices sound so real. I can’t wait until it is broken in.
