ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship

The Atrium is just so so good. For my preferences, with lamb BE2 pads and Aeolus mesh they just absolutely nail timbral balance, tonal weight, and micro-dynamics with almost best in class imaging and macro-dynamics and are close enough to neutral (my only small complaint). I also don't quite understand the common complaint of less detail compared to other flagships. I pretty much disagree with that assessment but maybe my ears suck.

It's been trading blows with Utopia, my 5-year reference, which has comfortably slayed all other dynamic and planar flagships during ownership. After several months of owning Atrium I'm pretty shocked to feel like it's probably going to dethrone the Utopia. I honestly thought that day would never come for me.

It's on the Mount Rushmore of headphones, IMO. I'm also no ZMF fanboy. This is the first ZMF I've truly liked and I've owned all the open models and the VC.

I really appreciate that you stuck with us to try Atrium! ZMF is in essence me filing out my headphone collection, so definitely expect everything we make to be a little different than the "box" we've created in the past. :beerchug:

Have you thought about doing a new Planar?

And here I thought I had my priority list of stabilized Atriums settled...one of the Macassar Ebony pairs is stunning to me.

I feel like the Atrium with my mesh and pad selection is a modern take on the Grado HP-1000 which is my favorite of the old-school flagships.

I've long admired the bespoke nature and heirloom quality of your headphones so I've always been open to buying them and seeing if they were a sonic fit for ownership. With Atrium that bar was far overshot to my delight. My Koa Rose Gold is probably not going anywhere for a long time.

"flexing," not "showing off"

And he/the company should flex: these headphones are crazy beautiful. IMO ZMF is lapping the field at this point.
Considering our age, I don't think debating the semantics of current slang is appropriate. :L3000:

I'm sure a lot of the hot cup summer stuff is going to sell fast, but I have a feeling that the Macassar ebony are going to be sold out in a couple minutes. There will always be more stabilized and resin sets, but who knows when or if we'll see that beautiful ebony again.
