Bro can you plz slow down, LOL?
If @zach915m follows last year's trend, there'll be a new ZMF at every CanJam. So, I guess here's your guide to new ZMF headphone announcements?

I was thinking about your post and really more about what "fun" means. And I would agree it's really easy to get caught up in "specs" and "harman curve" and what a bunch of click bait or other popular reviewers are saying is the "best" with whatever their finite definition of the day is (preach!).
I also think what is weird - is that what I deem fun sometimes is what I believe is "true to experience" vs "true to the sound" or linear.
Concerning how this relates to the Atrium Closed, there was a point where I was like, you know, this headphone is fitting in the Atrium/auteur side of our line-up which usually has less bass/mid-bass general warmth than the Verite side, at least from a marketing perspective. But then after doing a ton of work in tuning, I knew the best headphone, and the one that was FUN to me was one with a pretty hearty sub-bass (below 100 hz) bass boost. It also sounds the most "real" to me in that. It was also the thing that made me still want to listen to my Verite closed the most as well since it provides something very different, and I don't want repetitious headphones.
So at the end of the day - you gotta find your own fun - and I think there's a lot of different definitions of it - and I think you have an excellent point too! The hobby can't just be about accuracy and truth as a finite characteristic, it's a moving target that we can all achieve if we let go of the judgement of the all mighty audiophile gods.
If I'm being honest, I haven't worked on Caldera closed much yet. Been working on the "portable" and the Atrium closed so much the last 6 months after Caldera open was done. Ask me in a few months!![]()
Do you suspect the AC will be the ultimate basshead pair from ZMF -- or do you think the Caldera Closed may give it a run for its money here?![]()

Amen to that. How boring this hobby would be if all headphones adhered exactly to the Harman curve and sounded the same. Please keep up the great work of designing headphones with different flavors! I loved hearing the Atrium at CanJam SoCal and I'm looking forward to hearing the Atrium Closed. It looks gorgeous too!I was thinking about your post and really more about what "fun" means. It hasn‘t come up much with all the big guns recently, but I remember a rumor about wood cups for the fostex t50 style series ala the old ori or Omni. Is my memory off, or is this in the future one day?If I'm being honest, I haven't worked on Caldera closed much yet. That project is done, I even shot an assembly video. I just need time to put the final materials together! It hasn‘t come up much with all the big guns recently, but I remember a rumor about wood cups for the fostex t50 style series ala the old ori or Omni. I'm not the biggest fan of closed backs or at least that was my excuse to maybe sit this one out. Olive wood sounds brilliant. I feel like I can picture it for some reason. Here we go again.I think if you find the Atrium pleasing in any specific area, chances are that you'll be fine with the Atrium Closed, even though there are slight differences, specifically with a closed back the harder woods will smooth out the mids/treble even more.
The first LTD edition for Atrium Closed will be a very special couple slabs of figured Olive that I've been hoarding for a few years and been waiting for a closed back to use it on.
I’m yet to hear the Verite and Atrium, but have read all these forums. This may be the first time the verite has been described as warmer sounding than the Atrium and Auteur. Faster and more detailed, yes. Less spacious and holographic, yes. But warmer? Makes me even more excited for my incoming Verite. Unless that “at least from a marketing perspective” holds more weight than the objective sound. All very interesting!Concerning how this relates to the Atrium Closed, there was a point where I was like, you know, this headphone is fitting in the Atrium/auteur side of our line-up which usually has less bass/mid-bass general warmth than the Verite side, at least from a marketing perspective.
I agree. I've owned a Aeolus, VO, VC, Caldera, and Atrium (Oh, how I wish all at the same time) and I'd say warmth is in that order with a little bit of overlap depending on the pads.I personally find the Verite to be warmer than the Atrium only when using Universe pads (on the Verite). These pads accentuate the bass and slightly darken the treble, when compared to the thinner BE2 or Verite pads which sound closer to neutral in my chain. In fact, VO with Universe pads might be the warmest configuration I've heard in any ZMF headphone, although I haven't had the opportunity to hear the Atticus or Aeolus, which I understand might lean in that direction also.
