Quick PSA (I'm sure most of you already know but felt that it's not bad to have a reminder).

For the past 3 nights I've been listening to the AC on my Aegis tube amp. I had just swapped out a pair of tubes and was giving them some play time. I noticed that something didn't sound quite right but couldn't put my finger on it. Thought it was the new tubes.

By pure chance when I put the headphones down I noticed the stitching on the earpads and realised that the left and right cups were not aligned with each other. They still created a good seal but sounded "off".
After realigning them "voila"! the AC was back! Seemed like such a minor thing but there was definitely a big enough difference.

So yeah, check and make sure the earcups are aligned with each other!

@zach915m In your experience, is there a noticeable difference between European Ash and Manchurian Ash? My two Ash ZMF sets were Manchurian Ash.
In working with them I haven't noticed a huge difference, but - I don't have any manchurian ash in right now. If there's any difference sonically it's too little for me to notice. The EU ash is curlier though as it has some figure on the quartered pieces.
@zach915m Will the Ash releases will be sold like the stabilized sets with pictures of individual models that can be seen before they’re purchased. I’m pretty picky, so I much prefer to see the grain before I commit to buying. It’s the reason I almost always buy used ZMFs. My red-stained Manchurian Ash VCs were the exception. They were a “rarity” that was sold during ZMF November 2020, so I got to see them before purchasing.
All these units are built from scratch from the same tree, if you have a preference of grain width (wide or narrow) leave a note at checkout, but we aren't able to show pics of sets in built to order models. I am posting the product page shortly which show the variance of grain.

If/when you order just leave a note for "narrow" or "wide" grain if you have a preference. We won't have a problem with that!

Is it just the lighting of the fifth image that makes it look more blue than purple? or is that a variable as well... a more blue purple :o2smile:

I dig the wide grain. It looks like Tony the Tiger ate Willy Wonka's chewing gum.

And I mean that in a good way.

Freaking amazing. Ash with the shou-sugi-ban is such a good idea. Not sure if I like the thinner or thicker lines more!

It's a little bit of each - it's the same stain but that wood took it in a touch less saturated way - and the lighting. Overall in person it does look more purple than blue. It won't be an option per say, but all wood does have slight variance in how it takes the same stain.

When looking at our photo's the ones with the white backdrop are the most color accurate, as I do use lots of lights and such with the table top photo's, although all the lighting on the actual headphones is a neutral color temp without any gels or colors.

Excellent thanks… looking at the broader grain there I suddenly feel indecisive again! I have a week or so to decide… I’ll probably have changed my mind a dozen times or more by then 😂

One cup narrow grain, one cup wide grain, problem solved
I was thinking maybe some narrow at one side of the cup and wider at the other 🤪
