ZEN by DUNU: our first model designed around next-generation driver platform ECLIPSƎ

The Galaxy S8 possibly providing enough power increases the chance the Galaxy A52 could handle the SA6. Will I take the risk though? Hope there's some users here that actually do drive the SA6 with their phones.

I checked with the Pixel 4a and it sounded perfectly fine. I'm sure you A52 will do fine.

Thanks much for that! It is a bit weird though because the test linked to implied that the Pixel had far too low an output to drive 32 Ohms headphones while the SA6 is 60 Ohms. Hmm... [scratching his head]
They are talking about the quality rather than just the volume. But with BA iems, I wouldnt worry too much, they dont "scale" up as much as with DDs do.

Gorgeous, so damn beautiful, hope I'll eventually get a chance to listen to it soon!!

No they're actually measuring 0.4 Volts for the Pixel where at least 1 Volt is expected and 2 Volts or more hoped for to drive high impedance loads. As mentioned in the same review you'd almost need full power to drive a (I think it was) 32 Ohm impedance, leaving very little headroom to make for a dynamic experience, hence a lacklustre result that tonally can still be good.

You can bet that a version with "pro" in its naming is likely more expensive. Though it looks like they are really trying to improve it based on the feedback.
Spot on as Zen Pro does look to be pricier than the OG Zen...

Ok, so here I'm back again in the Zen thread 😜.
I listened and bought several IEMs but however did not find what i am looking for yet ...
The Zen looks promising to me but as I mentioned before very important to me is the possibility to commute with these...
Special thank to Scuba Devils for the feedback of the Zen and several other contenders.
Before purchasing and selling again I wanna be sure. I can't listen to them before so it would be a blind buy.

My question are;
Are here people that use them while commuting ?
So yes, how is the isolation?
Does the bass hold up because of the ambient noise ?
With the Vega2020 on the bike was a no go because of the wining wind noise, how are these ?

Any feedback would be much appreciated ✌️

Other people can attest to its real world impact, but if you're very concerned about ambient noise, a dynamic driver in-ear will always let in more noise than something closed, such as an all balanced armature set like our Studio SA6. At the same time, if you're going to be riding your bike, you'll want to preserve some situational awareness.

Wind noise is a different matter to ambient isolation, and there are multiple factors at play, including the shape of the housings, the insertion angle, and the choice of ear tips. So it's a combination of personal usage characteristics and ear anatomy. Irrespective of these factors, if you wish to minimize wind noise, our recommendation is to use foam tips. Foam tips that fit well will cut down on wind noise and maximize isolation across the external acoustic meatus. There are many different brands of foam tips, and we include a pair of high impact foam tips as well in the box, so we won't go into details for them here.

DUNU It's a good time to go #PRO. Our next generation of in-ears powered by ECLIPSƎ are here! Learn more on our official website. Stay updated on DUNU at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

Thanks for the information ✌️.

I'm aware of the combination vent hole/ dynamic driver. But a vent hole on the inside like my Final A4000 will do the job just fine, i hear things around me but this is acceptable. Just not enough low end for my taste while commuting.

About the isolation, I'm also aware of that matter😉

I had the FD5, it shares a lot with the Dunu Zen. With the FD5 walking was very pleasant, enough bass and good enough isolation. Just sound signature is not mine because of the tiring treble peaks.

I was considering an all BA setup because of the isolation but I'm afraid there it will come short on the low end vs a dynamic driver.

The FD7 has cured the treble problem of the FD5, but it's also leaner in the sub-bass.

My curiosity and enthusiasm to hear Zen Pro and compare to Zen has led to discussing with DUNU and they have confirmed there will be listening tours. I'm in Ireland so will form part of the EU tour, any other Zen owners in the EU who would like to participate?

I'm guessing the UK will form part of the EU tour but just don't mention to Boris :)

Would've loved to join but I won't be back in the EU in time. Instead I will be looking forward to a show off between Isa and the Zen Bros!

Yeah looking forward to hear how the Pro stacks up vs Zen - likewise IE900, Isa, and if I get hold of FD7 by then! A lot of great praise for the aforementioned DDs, maybe Zen Pro will be the dark horse that rides in... :)

I've been back to Zen almost daily for the last couple of weeks, thoroughly enjoying and I've definitely yet again underestimated the need for a period of brain burn-in and overall adjustment when I haven't listened for a while.

Oops! Missed the FD7! Asking for forgiveness...

I'm afraid for the worst possible outcome:

Best lows: Zen
Best mids: Isabellae
Best highs: Zen Pro
Best overall: FD7

Yeah agreed Isa will be hard to beat on mids, incredible. I think the FD7 vs Zen Pro bake off could be interesting though, we shall see!
