AFAIK, shipping dual voltage electronics at 220 is standard practice, as plugging gear set to 110 into 220 is guaranteed to fry them (sparks, sizzle, you name it). If you set it at 220 and plug it into 110 it simply won't power up/mitigates risk of damage. Your D18 should be just fine...

This.

Paired together with a Bottlehead Crack, would the D100 or the D18 be a better match? I like the idea of the D18 being warmer and smoother, but I'm afraid paired together with the Crack it'll be a little too warm. I'll be running these with a HD650.

If there's something more ideal than the D100 or D18 in the same price range, I'm all ears too

I might agree with your thoughts - D18 might be overly warm combined with the HD650. For other headphones it would be great.

D18 with HD650 sounds great for me it's not too warm. There's also another user that uses D18 with La Figaro 339 to pair with his HD650, he also likes the sound of it.
But then again, every body's different.

I loved D18 with my WA22 and HD 650. However, I specifically chose tubes and cabling that sped up the HD 650, reigned in and tightened up the bass, and brought out the treble a tad. Once each of those three areas are influenced, I find HD 650 scale fantastically. I have heard almost all of the flagships on my rig and, while I can appreciate their technical superiority, HD 650 scale so high as to be totally satisfying for me.

Then again, I have heard HD 650 sound like they have completely muddy and boomy bass, slow and unable to keep pace, and veiled where symbols and piano sound totally off. Synergy can really play a huge role in head-fi from my observations.

I suppose it would come down to the amp, and maybe even the tubes in that amp. And of course listener preference - some would say the HD650 sound too warm/dark, even driven from a super clean, neutral amp.

I just listed my CLAS-db for sale and am looking to pickup a D18 again. I miss it too much after having sold mine a few months ago.

I actually had a change of heart and never sold it. I'm glad I didn't sell it because it will be easy enough to add back in the D18.

I bought a D18 recently and hopefully comes on Friday. I'm looking forward to pairing this with the Mjolnir and HD800 I have.

I got the D18 in the mail today. The led lights from the unit doesn't seem like it will cause much issue in being a flashlight in a dark room while I'm sleeping. I have it connected to my laptop using the vlink as the usb/spdif and the amp is a Mjolnir feeding my HD800. Previously it was an Anedio D1 to my laptop via usb. It's quite clear that the D1 is in a higher league than the D18 but that isn't something to be ashamed of. You may be asking why I got this if the D1 is better. The reason is that this way I can switch out the Concero (which I have been having usb issues and was getting annoying using a usb/spdif converter when the main draw is usb) in my main rig. I can have the D1, emotiva mini X amp for my HE6 rig while I can use this setup for the HD800.

It is quite obvious to me that the D18 is a smooth sounding dac. It does make this rig sound a bit more easy going than before without losing much detail.
