You Know You're an Audiophile When.. Version 2!

What are you looking for in a phone anyway? I rarely use them.

HD screen (720p at least), hoping for 1GB of RAM, 1.2+GHz processor (Snapdragon 400?), SIM card slot obviously, hopefully a MicroSD slot, great battery life. I would really enjoy being able to upgrade to Lollipop as well. Don't care much about the camera. I know just about nothing about phone specs, but this is the kind of stuff I've heard is generally pretty good. Obviously I know about RAM and stuff, but I don't know much about processors in phones and what they need/what I can get for about $100.

I love the ZenFone 5, but I probably won't be allowed to buy something of that price (found it for $150).
Have you looked into Nokia?

Actually, I used to have a Lumia 520, and my mom has the 521. They're nice, but the OS just isn't what Android is. Android seems more customizable and open, plus there's more apps. It seems I can do more with it.

The LG L90 is attractive, but the specs are meh; for only $50 more I can get the ZenFone.

YKYAAW all you want in a phone is a phone, and use a dedicated home system for music.

I certainly won't be using it for music... Unless it has USB OTG. Just got cleared to get the ZenFone 5! Love the looks and the specs, and it's totally unlocked. Plus, it's getting Lollipop this April!

I guess most people nowadays want their phones to be fancy computers. Nothing wrong with that. I just use my computer as a computer and my phone as a phone.

YKYAAW you wish you could watch the AC/DC performance at the Grammys with high quality audio, but your TV's speakers are junk

I'll be at school using it frequently, and the teachers sometimes require us to use our devices for things. I can't always have my laptop with me, so the phone is a backup.

YKYAAW you REALLY wish that you could audition every single (good) headphone currently in production in the world right now and pair them with every single transport, DAC, and amp currently in production right now in one giant soundproof room for however long you want. And then you realize that's kinda what hifi meets are for (sans the however long you want part and the unrealistic request of every single audio equipment).

Ditto, I do my assignment on the bus and in cafes and use my phone to submit the answers.

YKYAAW that Raspberry Pi 2 you were thinking about getting is currently $50. Waiting time until it goes down to $35.

BTW I am using this as a mini music playback device, emulator, and web browser. It will only use a small amount of power, better than my high powered PC.

It's probably also good for LEGAL torrenting of Ocremix stuff as I can just hoard all the music overnight.

It doesn't hurt to have some graphically impressive games in your pocket to burn your free time. Imagine long trips and long flights, that's when I wish my phone was a (gaming) PC.

YKYAAW you want high fidelity headphones.

(This should be obvious, but some audiophiles aren't actually interested in high fidelity audio reproduction like the primary definition entails. Another brand of audiophile is someone who is interested in "lower, but interesting" fidelity audio reproduction. You can be both at the same time if you're like me!)

It doesn't hurt to have a PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and other portable game consoles, with quality games, too.

Also, YKYAAW you listen to music on long trips...or avoid trips altogether so you can listen to more music! =D

But the PS Vita takes up more space, if only someone can integrate the C5D, the PS Vita, the Fujifilm X100T onto my iPhone :frowning2:
