Haha. Nice!

So Pono is just another glorified DAP, right? I've moved on to desktop systems, so I don't think I'll need to get another DAP again.

It is just a DAP, but the product is attracting evil condem from the disbelievers who say that a person can not hear above 16 bit 44.1 kHz.

They are for insisting that it is a waist of money, hype and snakeoil. They insist we don't buy one.

16-bit has more than enough dynamic range to handle all recordings, and 44.1 kHz is designed to play all the frequencies we can hear. Anything higher than that is inaudible. That being said, I would only care about how the player sounds with music in general. Although my DAC isn't the fanciest, my amp has far higher output power than any DAP could ever hope to achieve.

Well, I think the marketing is trying to bring HD audio to the masses. I think the player would be better marketed explaining how it sounds good with 16/44.

Still Pono sells HD music and they would make less $ if they didn't convince the masses to go HD.

High-res is just a gimmick to get gullible people to pay bloated prices for what could have cost much less and sounded exactly the same. The only thing that really matters is the master. If/when I launch my own digital music store, I will be up-front and honest about everything.

You know @TRapz is an audiophile because you see him viewing the same random threads as you. XD

Caught me!

YKYAAW you notice someone, replying to someone else, use "Music" as person's name and realize they're replying to Music Alchemist, so you click on the thread and read it

YKYAAW you recognize a lot of people's names around here, and know what they like/some of the headphones they own

YKYAAW your reputation precedes you and people click on threads simply because they realized you posted in them.

Look at my signature now. lol

YKYAAW your phone number contains 701 and you think of the AJG Q701.

YKYAAW you have a folder dedicated to music that needs to be coverted to WAV (Audacity doesn't covert to ALAC for my iPod Nano, which then converts all files to AAC).

YKYAAW that gosh darn Raspberry Pi 2 is still over $50! And you need that for a music/download/LEGAL torrent machine.

YKYAAW numbers remind you of headphones (this happens to me ALL the time)

YKYAAW instead of going to sleep like you should be, you make one last post on Head-Fi

YKYAAW your audio player only plays lossless files, looks like a text file, has a command-line interface, and requires a powerful PC just to use it.

"Let's see here..."
[Scrolls Down for a minute]

*D\Music Library\When the Sun Sets.wav*
*execute*

[LISTENS]

*kill*

"Okay, one more"

*D:\Headphone Porn\HD 800\Front_View_HD 800.jpg*
*execute*

"HELL YEA!"

What are the specs on your PC anyway?

YKYAAW it pains you that the two headphones you have on hand have either too much bass or too much upper treble, which is ironically even more annoying while watching videos with them. Can't wait to receive the Focal Spirit Professional sometime in the next few days!

lol. Actually, all you have to do is go to wherever the file (or a link to the file) is, then copy and paste it, since it loads the entire thing into memory before playback. It can also integrate with other players, but I use the "best" version. (Read about the software here if curious.)

It's on my profile.

YKYAAW in addition to your crazy music player software, these are actual settings you use with another program:

core system and resource scheduler optimizations
processor core resource assignment for multi-core
system/network process resource priority optimizations
launch audiophile player with Fidelizer optimizations
stop unnecessary services leaving only audio related ones
networking

Aaaaand thank you for introducing said program. My music now sounds incrementally better straight from my laptop.
