Sorry to be off topic but figured would be cool to post a demo of Yamaha's flagship speakers that I just did.

:)

Very cool man. I've always wanted to hear those speakers.

A report of the arrival of the second lot shipment appeared on Twitter from @kansan.
(A series of photos were posted on the account. Recommend to see.)
Kansan says an interesting thing: "highest sound quality per gram in my experience"

I just demo yh5000se in akihabra. Amazingly liggt weight! Even the stand is made in japan! The cable looks very well made to me too. The cup, though small externally, is quite roomy inside and i could wear very comfortably. The metal cup grille is fully open/perforated so there's no isolation at all. The staff connected to a re leaf desktop for me. It requires quite a bit of power (comparing with victor wm90). The sound is quite good and has some similarities to d8k pro but soundstage is not very wide. The price is listed at 449000yen only. I read their web store and this is listed as preorder item. There's no sold out sign so i asked the staff anyway. Their answer is there's a queue now and I've to expect to get this in 2-3months if ordered.

All in all, definitely an excellent choice given d8k pro listed at 384900yen. For the 1x% price difference, i think yh5000se is way more comfortable, lighter and looks cooler. Definitely on my wish list.

Nice, super jealous of all the people that can listen to the yh5000se right now. What stood out to you the most in that 1st impression? i.e. did you like how the vocals sounded, strings, or anything that stood out to you? Also, if the soundstage wasn't that wide to you, did it have a high ceiling?

I listened to wm90 and yh5000se on the same set up and same music list - watch for debby (take 2), neir orchestra music and some japanese vocal oldies. Vocal is detailed but not very sweet (such as L5000). It sounds a bit close-in to me so everything is just closer. Wm90 surprisingly sounds wider even it's a close back. Bass is much heavier from the wm90 too

edited: all shops i went to don't have yh5000se in stock. I'm struggling whether to get the wm90 instead . . for 100k yen less

Did you mean that it was not as sweet as much as the L5000, or that it was not seet like the L500 is not sweet? (I have the L5000, so it's a helpful reference point for me)

Always follow your own ears. It sounds like the wm90 is your better option? (btw, wish we had this in the US... it's just not sold outside of Asia seemingly)

L5000 vocal sounds sweeter to my ears. Yes, I'll go demo again and make my decision before leaving this weekend. Just saw a 2nd hand sn-1 and looks interesting too. But it's not as engaging as wm90 😃

Thanks!

I love my L5000 (with ZMF Universal solid lambskin pads - both comfort and sound are very improved)

Yes, but the yh5000se is the coolest looking overears bar non 😃 with very light weight and superb wearing comfort, that's a very important factor too.
