XDuoo X3 DSD 24Bit / 192KHz CS4398 Chip Lossless Music Player

Hi fellas! I have noticed that lots of people faced the problem of installing Rockbox on new Xduoo x3 players. At the end they get fully bricked device or in best case working rockbox with dead stock firmware without possibility for backup. As we ve already clarified this happens due to new NAND chips that Xduoo is using in new parties of X3 players and modified stock firmware version. So, what is required is to get backup dump of this modified stock firmware version from any new X3 player and then modify accordingly the rockbox installer files.

I have a friend who can do this and make fixed Rockbox and stock firmware for owners of new players for free, but he needs that someone of new owners of new X3 make a dump of the firmware from his player with easy and safe instruction below:

You will need SDcard <=32 gb in Fat32
1.Put two files (update.zip и script.sh) on this sdcard. Here is direct link to get these files.
2. Mount sdcard in slot #1 on player
3. Power on the player
4.Follow in menu to Settings->Update->Yes ( will be no update but only will execute a script from script.sh)
5. Wait a few seconds when backup is done and player restarted automaticaly (in usual mode)
6. Turn off player
7. Unmount sdcard and get from it's root backup file : mtd0.bin-mtd7.bin and send it to me (will notify my email in private chat or just simply upload file here)

Hope for an active help here from you guys who just bought a new Xduoo x3. This is what we all are in need. Thanks.

It would be very nice to have this problem solved somehow. I had second xduoo x3 unmodified and received not very long time ago but last week i sold it because i have also second xduoo x3. This xduoo is also from the new parties but there is Rockbox installed so from the instruction above i see it isn't useful. It seems it should have original firmware in xduoo x3 to make an operation. Very sadly i am not useful there. Last week i cold help in the process of receiving the possibility to go back to original firmware from rockbox in the new xduoo x3 parties. But i hope there are people who received xduoo x3 recently and can help it there. Anyway amazing news that someone managed to understand the problem and is making some steps in solving it.

I always thought that the X3 could be a class beater and punched way above it's level but Xduoo's lack of support
(even down to ignoring multiple emails) not only held it back but killed any brand fans
(with the exception of maybe Nymphonomaniac?). I bit the bullet and got TheBit Opus#1 and have been very happy with it.
I still use my X3 when walking but have no desire to send more money to Xduoo for current or future products.
And that is a sad commentary on a company that produced what could have been a stellar product.

I agree. I am very happy with my x3, but xduoo's support is non-existant, at least here and via email Contrast that with Radsone and their es100 support which is polar opposites (ie stellar).

I think Chi-Fi Fan should post his message in this forum also, because seems it's a little bit more alive. Right now in this forum people are talking about the lost possibility to go back to stock, so it's the right moment.
Also you are right - most of the people already upgraded to rockbox, but it should be The One (our savior) :) who haven't done it.

I dropped X3 on the ground and it cannot be turned on. When plunged in, it turned on a second and shut off. Anyone had such experience and is there any way to fix it? Thanks

I would recommend taking it to a competent electronics repair shop, preferably one with an electronics microscope. More than likely a SMD electrical component got knocked loose (capacitor, resistor, memory chip, etc).

In other words, a physical problem not a software problem, which cannot be diagnosed over the Internet.

Good luck, and let us know what the repair shop says!

Thank you for the suggestion. But I think it's hard to find a electronics repair shop. Even there is, I doubt the cost is more than what I want to pay to fix a pretty old X3. :(

Hello, Kundatra! Sorry to hear that one of you x3 was bricked. Let's see if your second non-rockboxed player will help to solve the problem.
I have also uploaded files needed to make dump on my GoogleDrive . Just d-load zip from GD, follow instructions as given above ,then upload dump in same folder on my GD. Upload permission is granted. All should be easy to do :)

Hope to hear from you soon, friend.
