What is the advantage of rockboxing the X3 aside from themes? I had used rockbox on my old Sansa clip, and vision M(I think, it was long ago)but I found the menu system overly complicated. Does it fix the supposed pitch problem(which I don't notice)?

Yeah it solves the pitch problem.

UI is definitely more complicated. You might want to read its manual to understand rockbox's full potential.

For me, the benefit comes into two pieces:

functionality: better APE support

flexibility: better player lists (with virtual key board), database management, possibility to modify the system on one's own, etc

Hi All, been reading most of this thread, and the Fiio x1, and M3  players....As anyone here got both the  x3  and the fiio x1..... if yes, Whats your views on them both...
If I buy either of these players....All I would be doing is fitting two micro sd cards  64 gb.....and hopefully dragging and dropping my cds from the lap top in media player...
Do you have to format both these cards in the player itself...or on the pc ?
Also would it be easier to just put the card into a adaptor , then into the pc, lap top , and then load up the cards... then put them into the player ?.....
Whats best...... thanks in advance.
Last week I had posted that someone would again ask which of these two would be better ?!!! If you had gone through this Thread für someone. U might have known it. I think I am replying this same thing for the 3rd time here. It's xduoo X3 Reason: please do a little browsing in this thread.

You have lost me a little , looks like youre saying the  Xduoo X1   ?.......think im mixed up here.....Im Looking into the  Xduoo X3 , Fiio X1 or even the Fiio X3....... The only thing at the minute , on Amazon uk the seller for the Xduoo is based in the usa...Where the seller for the Fiio is based in the  uk......This may be the way I have to go......in case we get custom charges ?

Apologies for that weird typo. I had listened fiio X1 and xduoo x3. Not though side by side. But I have listened fiio x3 gen 1 and fiio X1 side by side. Fiio x3 gen 1 won in that. And I compared fiio x3 gen 1 and xduoo x3 side by side. Sonically xduoo x3 wins. This means you can avoid comparing fiio X1 to a xduoo x3, which I think is into a slightly upper class in sound. xduoo x3 is recommended over fiio X1 any day. (Unless you want a color screen)

Hello I purchased a new xduoo x3 dap a couple days ago and noticed the firmware was 1.0 on it, so I went to the xduoo site and theres is a 1.1 update available so I downloaded it and followed the instruction but it does not show up when I go to setup update menu .I put it on a sp 128gb micro sdxc card which i formatted to fat32,.The file is in winware zip ,I tried unzipping into a folder and still did not work any ideas what I am doing wrong.

A good clock to replace your watch.
Bass and treb.
Parametric EQ.
Sleep timer.
Replaygain!

Doom.

Not to mention using the voice feature so you can control the unit with it still safe in your jacket pocket.

Thanks I will try it when I get home today. I have created a separate X3 Rockbox thread with the needed links if anyone is interested. I thought it would make it easier for people so they would not have to search and maybe not derail the thread with questions like mine.

Here is the link: http://www.head-fi.org/t/803844/rockbox-xduoo-x3

Hi there,
did somebody can tell me how the Xduoo sound with Grado headphones?
I feel that the Grado benifit from good amping, and even my Ibasso Dx90 do not push them at their full potential.

And did the X3 sound WAY better than the X2?

Yes, the X3 sounds a WAY better than X2. Bigger sound stage, more transparent, more natural.
