XDuoo X3 DSD 24Bit / 192KHz CS4398 Chip Lossless Music Player

Thanks for the update @MandoBear !

I can't wait for the day I can play my 44.1khz files without messed up pitch

Until then I'm limiting myself to just my lossless collection and MIDIs rendered into 48khz FLAC.

In the interests of keeping personal traditions... I will have to try and beat Doom on the X3 with Rockbox whenever it happens, I've done it with every Rockboxable player I've had yet that could do it

You're welcome...

Doom...! Haven't played that for ages - I have it for the GameBoy Advance somewhere...
I know, I know... 52 year old guy with a GBA... How sad is that...?

I also have a PSP with the custom firmware on it so I can play the fan-translated version of Final Fantasy Type-O

Hi,

I am excited about everyone else's excitement for Rockbox, and I'm certain it can only be a good thing! However, as a new and ignorant audiophile, I don't actually know the extent of what Rockbox is.
Could someone explain to me in relatively layman's terms what Rockbox is, and what it will allow me to do on my Xduoo X3? (Other than it fixing the pitch issue, which is great to hear!). Ie., how would it be possible to play Doom on it haha, what other things will it allow on the X3/what features does it bring? And will it also fix gapless playback? Also, would you expect there to be any risk to putting this program on the X3, in terms of bricking the system or anything like that?

Thanks, and thanks to all involved for their hard work :)

Best bet is to spend some time exploring the official Rockbox site.  http://www.rockbox.org/
Lots of features are possible.  We'll need to wait and see what our Russian friends have included in their port to the xDuoo X3.

The things I liked about RB;

1) Parametric EQ, this in itself will be interesting to hear on the X3 seeing as it has no EQ at all.
2) or Bass and Treble adjustments, which can be bind to shortcuts as adjusted relatively easily.
3) Crossfading, fun to use when 'Shuffling All'.
4) No file limits

I completed the original DooM for PC, all three episodes on Nightmare. To this day it is my single greatest achievement, and that includes the birth of my children :D

I'm  r-e-a-l-l-y  looking forward to the Rockbox port availablity

After several months of ownership the only "nit" I've experienced is the occasional display of a battery charge icon on the screen after disconnecting the USB2 cable from doing some file transfers with my desktop running Win7 SP1.  This after using the Windows safe to remove process.   Weird.   I get rid of it by plugging in an AC charger to the X3's USB port and then unplugging it.  Functions return to normal.  Don't recall anyone else mentioning anything like this which is why I'm sharing.

I don't even have mine yet but I've been watching the thread anxiously for a while and decided it was finally time to pull the trigger! Since XDuoo has given their word that they're working with Rockbox devs to help make it happen I have no doubts we'll be seeing it soon

Agreed on all points - but wanted to add I love the timestretch too. It's a lot of fun to play with.

It doesn't apply to everyone of course but I personally make heavy use of RB's MIDI plugin. I'm still a big MIDI nerd.

Only to let them know they can't do this and get away with it. They might not have guessed you would post it online. I'm sure whoever read your comments here will think twice or avoid them next time. If only they get to know that you posted your experience online, they might think twice in doing this to others. Of-course, it is entirely up to you to do this but it MIGHT help others. :)

oic. I didn't post it up for that reason. Was merely proving the few who spoke out earlier in this thread about 'how great the Penon service was, etc'.

OK. Have decided you are right. I shouldn't just walk away and leave it. Not everyone is in a position like me that can just write it off. I will contact PayPal and see what they can do to re-activate my old dispute that has expired due to the lengthy shipping time. I will ensure Penon learn what they've done is not right and do not ever try pull this off on another customer.

Many have mentioned that pitch issue is not much of a problem. But it is, a problem if you listen to some fast pace songs. It literally kills the excitment of the songs. For instance the One republic's Counting stars sounds slower and the dynamic nature of the song is missing here. Over the past three months, I noticed many songs sound 'boring'. At the same time, soft Jazz sounds even more relaxing !

I listen to mostly pop, rock, and ballads, so yeah... all fast paced songs. Not into Jazz.

After reading your response, I thought of a very good analogy to the feeling. It's like, you're running on a tread mill and your normal pace is 44.1KM/h... but your treadmill doesn't allow for the .1, so you're forced to run at 44KM/h... therefore, you don't notice it at the start, but after a while, your body just doesn't feel right. [that's the kinda feeling I get]

Perfect! You should do that. At-least to make them pay. If not for anything else. I myself would never be in a position to write-off something above 10$ being here in India where 1 USD = 67 Indian rupees.
