X2 may not have much details, but pretty musical. For me, it's good on the go and listen rock music.
I agree, my purpose in buying it........just not up to the dance.

If I have to spend more than a couple of hours getting a $50 player to work, then it isn't worth it to me.
I have tried FLAC, MP3, and Wav with File Error coming up on many of the tracks. Then it freezes. It also frequently duplicates each track, the new file name begins with a (.) and then the song titles etc.
......so maybe it's just a little wank.
Already jumped through enough hoops, this puppy is going back.
Point accepted on not being the norm yet having used it, and suffered, I'm looking for a different player I can RockBox.
Get an X3 then, also a beautiful sounding unit
Ordered last week. Wondering now what smaller sized amp to go with it.....looking at the Oppo HA-2, is that overkill?
Oppo HA-2 is a dac/amp combo, and the output power is larger than x3, but not much. I suggest you buy a pure amp, like Fiio A5. It's a new product.

My short listed thoughts are for the X2, Oppo HA-2, Opus 11.....just not yet clear on which way to go, still learning you see.

the X3 is fairly powerful, you might need an amp for the Havi's, I used to pair a Topping NX1 with mine, its cheap, clean and fairly powerful.
Penon suggest the A5 as a starting point. I'll probably wait until the X3 arrives and see how well it drives the Havi's and go from there.
X3 has enough power to drive Havi.
But why not wait for X10?
Thank you for the info regarding the Havi, much appreciated.
No thank you on the X10. I recently returned my Cayin N5 because it has a goofy wheel, although the player is very fine for the money the wheel just kills it. Definitely not interested in any DAP with a wheel.
I'm looking for a highly portable DAP, hopefully a Rockboxed X10 will fill that need. My 'full sized' main unit will be an Lotoo LPG or something similar.
