xDuoo TA-03 Tube Amplifier (24Bit/192KHz USB DAC) - Impressions and Reviews thread

I can't comment on the Aliexpress amps I haven't heard, but it looks like a Lehmann cube clone and a 6080 tube OTL amp.

I've compared the TA-03 to my home built Dynahi, and I actually prefer the TA-03 on the HD800. The reason is that the TA-03 brings the instruments up closer. I find the Dynahi expands the soundstage so wide it's like listening to a performance from the perspective of a drone 500 ft overhead, which is overkill with the HD800 that already have a wide soundstage.

I would say most other characteristics; detail, bass/treble bandwidth, attack, black background, dynamics, are on par between the amps, which is really surprising considering the difference I price and complexity of the Dynahi.

Thanks for your reply.
Anyway the OP promised sharing about tube rolling and there're no posts about it yet. Do you guys here use stock tubes??

I like the sound of the stock tubes so much that I never got around to tube rolling lol. Trying to stop myself going down another slippery slope as it were!

Yes, you are right. The SS on ali is a Lehmann clone and the tube one is 6080 OTL using 5670 as driver tubes.

Haven't had a chance to play around with it but I will be sure to post impressions and comparisons properly once I have some playtime with it!

Was thinking about the TA20 also.
It seems the AliX seller has done something tricky to me..
The tracking says my item was shipped from Aug 28 to Canada but I placed the order on Aug 30..
And now it's in Canada being delivered to someone who was not home..
Can anyone relate?

So a local just suggested not to do tube burn in and always bias the tubes if the amp isn't auto-biasing.
Do we have to manually bias TA-03?

No bias adjustment is ever required. The output pair are triode tubes, and likely have a constant current circuit incorporated. Not like high power pentode tubes on power amps that need adjustment...

Just run them till the tubes burn out. Same goes for the 12AU7 which is a dual triode. Just run them till they burn out or start to sound really distorted.

Hi

What kind of power does the TA-03 have? Would it power a t50rp to very loud levels and how does it compare to the TA-01 for power?

The TA-03 has a lot of power and it should be able to drive the T50rp but I haven't tried it myself to be honest. It can easily drive the HD600 fwiw. Haven't tried the TA-01 as of yet

It has the ability to swing 17V on the output into 300 ohm, which is about 1W into HD800, more than enough to drive them or my beyer T1 to damaging levels. I seldom have the volume knob past 10 o'clock.

Remember they are designed for high impedance, cans with less than 75 ohm are not a good match with it.

I will be using a few T50RP variants myself and just bought one used from the Guitar Center. I was so impressed with the TA-01 that I couldn't help myself and looking for ward to tube rolling this. On the TA-01 12 o'clock is very loud for the t50 driver.

Hello guys. The unit I bought from Drop arrived today. I knew it would be sent with a US plug but I thought it accepted both 110 and 220 v input so changing the power cord would suffice. I also saw a review who opened up the unit and said it auto detects the input voltage. Now my unit has a 110 v sticker on it and I'm afraid to connect it to the outlet. Does anyone know if 220 v is safe or not?

Did you end up trying it with 220V?
