in case someone still interest in the woo wes comparison, please see my feedback on link above
I would recommend to buy without tubes then change Capacitor based on your sound signature and headphone. V-cap too reveal for sr009.
Nos tube is much more musical than new issue tubes in maxx

What is the definition of "maxxed" please?  (I understand changing out some tubes (or is it Caps) - but what specifically?)

Thanks very much! :)

With respect to any Woo headamp product, it refers to purchasing the headamp with ALL of the upgrade options offered to obtain the highest sonic potential Jack Woo believes his WES can attain. In the case of the WES, this would include  V-caps and tubes, or about $3,000.00 more than the base price of $4,990.00.  Of course, you can roll your own tubes as well. In short, every upgrade item on this page: http://www.wooaudio.com/products/wes.html

Got it!

Thanks much for the info. I've been all over the Woo site--maybe wearing it out!--the last few days, studying this stuff.
