With "these" attributes, how does Grado have a fanbase ?

Personally I think the opposite about most of them. Also you can transform your Grado experience with a little bit of customization in terms of pad selection/modification and headband pressure.

I see no need for the flamebait thread title. Perhaps make a thread asking how to deal with these problems with simple mods or pad swapping.

I've owned SR60s, MS1s, and now own 225s and HF2s. I find them comfortable, especially when enjoying the sound as much as I do.

Did you read the post? Did you read the title? It was all subjective and opinion, thus the "THESE" in the title. The very end of his post asked how the Grado owners got over the problems he had. No need to get your panties in a bunch when someone posts their opinion when they tested a set of phones.

As for the people begging for a I hate Grado forum, just stop being so obsessive about making the headphones you own look divine. They aren't. They are simply a good company that makes quality products that a small portion of people (in hifi) don't like. The majority of people really like them. If you are really this angry, its easy to simply not read the thread.

Not when you're a moderator, it's not.

Not to pull post rank here, but do you have much experience with these?

or a pair of akg k81dj - torture!
I too have ms1 and for short listening sessions they are quite comfy and they don't clamp much but after a while they start to hurt my ears. Anyway they are great for the price.
To the OP - Accepting the sound of any of the phones I had always was a problem at the beginning but eventually some of them grew on me. Maybe your brain is used to the sound if your senns.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'these,' but do you mean Grados or forum management?

For Grados, I've only had about 20-30 hours experience with my college roommates Sr60. They were pretty nice headphones, but I found them uncomfortable. I'm not sure how much he listened to them, because he wasn't a huge music fan. As for managing forums, I've moderated a videogame forum for 5 years. I've seen too many a flame threads to count. I've dealt with the Xbox-Nintendo-Sony fanboys and their numerous threads.

Most of the people in this thread have been extremely nice, and I'm not talking about 90% of the people that posted. But come on, it obviously isn't a flamebait thread. Perhaps the title misworded (read: exaggerated) and the thread was written hastily (thus not clearly articulated), but before people call the OP a flamebaiter they should reread what was actually posted. His post clearly identified him as a tester with no huge amount of experience with Grados. He recognizes that he probably wasn't going to buy a pair, and then ASKED people how they got over his problems.

If anything is flaming, this isn't it. I don't want to attack the moderator, as I didn't even realize he was one, but I find it rather shortsighted to say you'd close a thread simply because of the title. Perhaps he was merely talking about the discussion that ensued following the OP, which would be fine by me (as I didn't think of that until just now).

I hope that people will let others post their opinions without people asssuming its a flamethread and attacking them personally. Nearly everyone in the thread responded nicely, and thus I'm not talking about most of the thread. I'm just trying to point out to the people that responded so harshly that the OP isn't trying to flamebait. People have their opinions, and I hope that a forum lets people express them.

cjarrett, a person don't have to be a Grado fan to feel the negative implication in the title. If you intentionally write with a tone that will provoke other users, that is trolling. There are better and more effective way for asking question and finding answer, or simply trying to express the disappointment.

Fair enough. Do keep in mind, though, many of us have thousands of hours of experience with Grados across the entire spectrum, SR-60 to PS-1. Everyone has an opinion, and every well-articulated opinion is valid, but jumping in to lay-moderate a thread with less than 10 posts on this forum is a little untoward.

Perhaps you're accustomed to a whole new level of trolling, then. Around here, that's a trollbait thread title. Sure, he asked valid questions, but he lured everyone in by yelling "fire"! More to the point, all of these questions have been addressed in hundreds of other places on here. We strive to search first and ask questions later here.

I'm not trying to say that the title was amazing. I'm saying it was exaggerated and not worded correctly.

What I'm attempting to get across is that because the rest of the post was fine, people shouldn't be hung up over a title. His post was quality. The last paragraph sums up his feelings adaquately, and shows he isn't a troller.

Maybe I just assume too much from posters.

I like the Grados sound tbh, but comfort and the soundstage is the let down although they sound and look awesome... I demoed some SR80i and found the sound is very engaging but just lack the soundstage I wanted, it sounds flat (maybe due to non-angled driver?) so you either love it or hate it. I like some of it, but found it lacking in a major department.

Maybe my experience with console forums and reddit gives me just a whole different persepective than most people here. But I know that because you've been around here much longer than I have, that you know the community more than I do. IMO, it felt too much to close down a thread simply because of a title. This place has a vast amount of knowledge and experience, but it just feels that sometimes people are unnecessarily condemning others' opinions on products that do not parallel their own. I was just shocked that some were so condescending, but I guess its just irritation with seeing similar threads.

As for the search before post, I know that mentality. I had it for years on that forum, but IMO I just found that it never works. I found that I had to accept seeing the same threads over and over, mostly because finding things can be more trouble than its worth many times. I spent about two weeks searching the forum, and even then I didn't find the right thread that gave me knowledge. Preach on though man, because I hope that everyone gets that mentality. I'd love to see that mentality actually becoming commonplace!

IEM stands for In Ear Monitor. They are the headphones that typically have silicone or foam eartips that form a seal inside your ears.

Check out the Head-Fi meets forum further down on the main page, it might have something of interest to you.

I tried some sr325s at a meet, and I found them to be very comfortable.

they all look silly on your head IMO(maybe you have a sexy head to overcome this). Of course they LOOK attractive as a product itself, but two big wood cups sticking out the side of your head? L3000 leather ear muffs? lol no style points from me there, but that's not why I wear headphones anyway. It's all about the sound.

Yeah, that does happen. Best we can do is keep repeating it and hope some people feel guilty enough that they will suffer through

Welcome to the forum, CJarrett. I think I'll like having you around.

Here's hoping you get banned. Boomana has way more experience than you do with headphones, so show some respect. And this kind of comment directed at her just shows what a dirtbag you are. I'd be happy to see this useless thread closed.

So, you've listened to a SR-60 for a bit, which means that the rest of us are obsessed fanboys.

You might want to have a little more experience with a line of products before making sweeping assertions. Further, those of us who love Grados are up front about their drawbacks. If you had been around longer, you would have seen any number of those opinions.

It's odd that you come out of nowhere and start telling everyone what's what.
