.Been through tons of stuff in my time here. SR007, K1000, pink driver RS1, CD3000, w5000, im717, triplefi10, beyerdynamic stuff, sennheisers, denons, audio technica, etc etc. Its been so long ago since I've joined and I've been through soo much stuff that I've even forgotten what I have owned along the way. But now I've settled down and I'm pretty sure I'm happy with what I've got. Haven't thought about upgrading for more than a year or two already.

My setup:
Laptop --> Primare DAC30 (balanced) --> Luxman 505u --> Ath-w3000anv/Ath-w11jpn/Ath-w10vtg/Ath-ad2000
Sometimes, this setup makes me just as happy:
Galaxy Note 2 --> Phillips SHE35The only system upgrade that I dream of every once in a while is one with TAD Dacs and amps paired with high end PMC speakers/TAD speakers. I go to the international audio show in my country every year and this is the only system which floats my boat. Pure musicality to my ears. It just sounds so "real" and "live" as well as the music just flows soo effortlessly. None of that technical mumbo jumbo show off stuff. It just lets the music do all the talking.

Hi,
Good to hear from you and amazed at how much gear youve been through and subsequently let go. I must confess I have never heard any audio technica headphones although I've read lots about them. You have clearly settled on the brand could you tell us why they are the sound you were looking for? For example was the closed W3000 better than the 5000? Did the 2000s not fit the bill as the best sounding headphones being that they are open backed? Did you get the W10 and the 3000 because you need to be in an environment where you're not leaking sound or is there something to their sound you prefer over the open 2000s? Lots of questions I know but there must be some significance to your owning of so many top Ath phones.

To pose the question again this year; concentrating on headphones alone be they iems, customs, Modded phones or over the ear phones etc., is there anyone out there who has just 1 pair? 1 pair that you use for every listening scenario which would involve you wanting or needing to use headphones?
I appreciate some folks would never choose to wear phones outside which is fine that may make your choice slightly easier or different than the gym goers or runners/cyclists amongst us.
I have lots of headphones which means that my go to phones in a quiet room on my own (HD800s) would be different to those I use in company (IE800s) as opposed to my running phones (not even sure I have main or favourite for this)

End game in all aspects besides needing to find a decent bluetooth headphone for use when active in the gym or otherwise. Also might be a different DAC under $100. Maybe not.
It's all in my sig with the cables/adapters on my profile.

Makes no difference to me.  I'm perfectly happy with my basic HE-500 rig (see signature) which I put together almost 2 years ago.  After adding a custom designed cross-feeder about 5 months ago I was done.  So no upgraditis here.

Very impressed with your sensible attitude - well done. The HE500s make their first appearance

So is the $2999 for both the amp and headphones for the HE-1000? If just for the headphones, count me out forever.

So far I've gotten to the point that I've settled on the LCD-X or now the MrSpeakers Ether as my go-to cans. I could go further in the crazy search for resolution, but I think the Yggy will be the piece of gear for that.

The Yggy/Rag combo with the Ether was terrific!

Indeed! During a quieter moment I managed to spend about 15 minutes listening to a variety of good recordings from my computer on Sunday and I now anticipate hopefully final wallet punishment later this year.

Yup, forget them then. For 3 grand might as well buy Stax.

You know I think I'm gonna sell my amp and headphones that are in my sig.
