Which set of Headphones is right for me?

It depends on your source...They sound pretty good unamped, but they won't be too loud with a portable player (55 ohms).. I don't think the Fiio E3 can power them well, you may need to get the E5 or E7

I have an E5 coming in the mail next week so I think I'm gonna give these a try. Also, how is the K-240s bass compared to the HD 485s? The main thing I'm looking for is more bass than the 485s.

I've also been looking at the Sennheiser HD 448s. Man, there are just way too many choices, every time I think I've found a headphone I can settle on I hear about 5 more that might be what I'm looking for.

Sounds like you listen to a bit of heavier stuff (like myself.) In all honesty, I didn't really like the M50s for heavier rock and/or metal, but they're outstanding for hip-hop and rap.

Out of the 3 you've posted though I'd recommend going with the M50s.

I'm open to other suggestions if you think they will better suit my needs.

I've just heard too many good things about the m50s, and your selection of music seems perfect for them.

No way I can recommend anything else =p.

Those Denons are looking like a good choice as well. My local Guitar Center carries the AKG K-240s and the M50s but they don't have any trial pairs, so if I wanted to try them I'd have to buy both sets. I also want to try the Beyer DT770s and the Denons but I can't find a place that carries them.

Also, which phones have the better soundstage, the DT770s or M50s? I also found a pair of DT770s on ebay at $56 right now, do people usually try to steer clear of ebay?

I heard that the bass isn't that great though. To make this as clear as possible, I want the headphone with more bass compared to the HD485 run through a Fiio E3 amp, and with so many options and phones I've been told about (M-50s, K-240, D1100, DT770, SRH440) I'd like the ones that have the most soundstage out of that group that have the amount of bass I'm looking for.

Same soundstage as HD485=no soundstage

what about Sony XB-700? I know many headfiers aren't gonna like this suggestion, but it could be a good idea if you want a lot of bass

Ha, I know the 485s soundstage isn't that great but it's better than some cans in that price range, and I'm not a fan of the Sonys at all. I'm thinking the SRH750DJs or Beyer DT770s might be what I'm looking for.
