So far the Audio-Technica ATH-ES7 is my top choice. My only concern is that it might be disappointing in the sq department, though its beauty could make up for that.

I have owned the hd280's, but the higher impedence, coiled cable, and overall bulk make them unapealling to own again.

Are there any other headphones I should consider in this price range. I would use these unamped from my ipod and straight from my av710.

I listen to everything, so a well-rounded can is preferable.

Jagorev, I see you keep mentioning K181 to everyone. Have you heard one? Or do we want human experimentation?

Beyer DT250-80 missing on that list.

The K181 looks qualified for my needs, but I am weary of "DJ" headphones with bass boost.

I haven't been able to find that much info on the HD 25-1, only the hd25sp.

He he. Nope....I'll be trying them out soon. I do really want to hear some feedback about these...they look great.

Is the DT250-80 easy to drive?

The DT250-80 is easy to drive, but I see many prefer the DT250-250 for little better sound. That's why I never got it. Thinking and knowing about the better sounding version would bother me all the time. It's the double effect with little better fon with more juice.

Check out the OP posting date all the way to the last 4 posting including myself.  It is dated in 2006, a pretty dead thread, no need to recommend to the OP. He's long gone and probable had 10 headphones by now.

I just picked up the Audio Technica ATH M50 yesterday for use in the office. Guitar Center was more than willing to match B and H's price on these. Snagged them for $107 and can't imagine a much better deal at that price when you need portability, isolation, minimal leakage, and great overall sound. Also easy enough to drive off your portable player. Comes with a carrying pouch too. I'm very happy!

Lol, no need to say sorry, I just thought it was hilarious.  The TMA-1 are very interesting headphones though, seems promising.
