I agree with this completely. It's also true that they all do something not so good as well. They're all excellent but very different headphones, and none of them are perfect. Of course this would also be true if you added the RS-1 and SA5000 into the mix. So my vote goes for the AD2000. Best overall for $500 or less.

I suggest listening to HD600, too. Much more ballanced then the HD650 and so it fits my listening preferances quite well. And of course it's much cheaper.

How funny (ain't it maybe that you only listened to the HD650 prior to appropriate long burn-in !?) - I've always though that the HD650 is wonderfully well balanced - full, smooth, linear, sparkly treble, and seamless throughout ...

I think I'd tend to agree with him more than you on this one... the HD650 isn't balanced in any way to me. No treble sparkle. I like it, but I certainly wouldn't define it as those things.

Once more:

1. DT 880. Very good detail, "moist" mids, good bas, not too good stereo.
2. HD 650. Not so much detailes, very good, even too good, bas, cut high tones, 3 demensional effect. Music not so real as on 880.
3. AKG 701. Very big - particulary wide - scene. Neutral. Unnatural soft sounds. Fusion details.

Of course RS-1 and Sony MDR 5000 are better.
Forgive language...

That's probably why you both need Grados

(how come you don't hear the treble sparkle? Possibly since that's true high treble, not a horrible 8-9 KHz peak)

Ooooh. My goodness.

But, none the less.... one cannot hear what is not there. I'd still rank the HD600 above all the others listed here. What with it having treble and all.

I couldn't help it...

Take a look at these Stereoplay measurements

And tell me which headphone has the "cut down treble" (hence no treble sparkle as I intend and perceive it).

I'll answer for you: ALL Grados

Plus they've the cut down bass, too

Hmm, that's odd... all I see when I look at those graphs is...

And I was playing so nice when this started... saying I liked the HD650 best... look at what happened...

Because of you, Andrea, I RANK THE HD650 BELOW BOSE TRIPORTS!

Really? Ouch, sorry.

Still you said they're not balanced at all and with no treble sparkle... But hey, I'm sure the Triports are an understated masterpiece of a headphone, with balance and lots of treble sparkle too, so feel free to do it

Don't feel sorry for me.

I have moved my pawns. I have carefully engineered my plan.

From now on, the Triport will ALWAYS outsell the HD650.

How does that feel?
