As simple as the title suggests, simply rank them. This can be used as a background for those bent on picking one of the above. If you wish, tell why you pick the one you do, but just pick one of the above for whatever reason you want.

This isn't a which sounds better or a best value pick, think in these terms: If you had to pick one over all of them, which one?

I'll keep tabs in this space so make the first part of your post your choice, then follow with an explanation if you wish.

HD650: 17
DT880: 11
K701: 13

I can see this turning out to be very inconclusive...

Im gonna go with the K701 because I have it and I like the way it sounds...

1. 701, but very close to...
2. 880 (2003 - haven't tried the 2006 version)
3. 650 (not my style)

All that said, I'm migrating to the ATH-AD2000 to see I can get the detail of the 701 and the rich tone of the latter two.

The $300 level is one of the worst in headphones that you can be in, as far as decision making goes.

All three of those headphones are VERY different, they suit different tastes and genres of music, and this can be especially difficult if you like a wide variety of genres, such as myself.

After reading and contemplating about it for a long time, I chose to go with the DT880 when I get the funds, simply because I'm coming from the Sennheiser eH350, a headphone notably lacking in bass volume, and I've gotten very used to that kind of sound, and in fact prefer it. So the DT880 would be a very good step up from that. It suits a wide variety of music, it would work well with most of the types of music I listen to, it would comfortable, durable, would be cheaper than the other two therefore allowing me to buy a better amp, and should last me a long time.

1.AKG 710

2. SA5000

X. HD650

HD650 does not reveal inner detail in loud and complex passages - instruments tend be be massed together in a blob.

I have a hard time as it is trying to decide which one I like the best among the HD600, K701, and DT880. Couldn't possibly rank them, they all do something good.

Your eyes don't seem to reveal the inner content of the topic. SA5000 wasn't mentioned there.

Out of those three I would choose HD650.

Honestly, you have to hear all three. Everything else between them isn't conclusive in terms of pulling away for price/value/build/etc, so it's your own ears and sonic preference that's going to be the kicker here.

Personally, I don't like all three, and would choose an Alessandro MS-2i in that price range, but again that's just me

Art.... wow.

But personally, I'd pick the HD650. Really though, if you can, try to listen to all of them.

Meh, if you like music the way it's made (albeit a bit 'dead' at times): K701

If you want 'funness' (?) in ur system (although I thought the whole point in spending all this money is to get the closest to the best reproduction of sound): 650

I can't say anything about the 880.
