If you decide on the Little Dot, consider buying from the authorized seller. The one you linked to looks a bit odd because at the bottom they show a picture of a totally different amp.
What should i upgrade to from HD600

Your ~$500 Stax options that are an upgrade from the HD600 are SR-Lambda Normal bias ($300), SR-001 portable earphones ($250) and maybe the SR-202 ($350). You should be able to eventually find the former two in the used forum.
As for amping: Finding an SRM-1 amp for SR-Lambda/SR-202 might take a while. The SR-001's amp needs some modding, you could probably ask someone to do it for you, or get the non-portable SR-003 with the regular Stax plug.
Another option (best in terms of price): Fostex T50RP ($80) + Omega2 pads ($120) and get that Thunderpants modded, and use starving student amp
Another option (best in terms of sound quality that might meet price requirement): Koss ESP950 by itself for $500, still needs more money for amp.
I liked the HD600 and I moved up from it, AND I care about value!, so feel free to check my profile to see what I have now.
